Why is it some people can post something about their personal life and it is okay. But others can post something about their personal life and they are judged. Many of us that post on this site and others like it, don’t want our immediate family to know we are into spanking. Is it because it is wrong? No. It’s because it is personal, between you and whoever you decide can share it with you. Like other things we do in our lives. None of us are ever going to totally agree on what each considers right or wrong. If we post to this site, within the guidelines of the rules and not doing anything illegal, then why are some posters judged? I don’t always agree with all the posts I read, but I don’t feel that gives me the right to make trouble for the person that does post. What we do in our personal lives should be just that PERSONAL. I think if you haven’t met this person, through personal email, instant message, phone or meeting in person, then you shouldn’t judge them. If you have met them and known them, then just be open about your dislikes and cancel the friendship. Don’t be two-faced. If you don’t like what you see, and it isn’t involving you, TOUGH. The world doesn’t revolve around one person. I have noticed that some people can banter back and forth and there is no problem, but others can banter and it is wrong. It is truly sad that people think they have found a place that they can relax in and be themselves, have fun with their friends, and banter back and forth and someone comes along that doesn’t even know anything about them and starts trouble. Maybe we should all set back and ask ourselves: Are we in any position to judge someone else? What faults could others find with what we believe? I figure it this way and I live by this rule: If whatever a person or persons is doing, as long as it isn’t harming me or isn‘t illegal, then why should I care? What people do in their personal lives is just that personal. "Success in almost any field depends more on energy and drive than it does on intelligence." Sloan Wilson

Beunaventura, I understand that. But it isn't me that has been hurt. It is a friend of mine. By someone she considered was a friend. What happens in anyones personal life shouldn't have anything to do with posting about spanking. Just because some people know something personal about your life but don't agree with it. I'm a strong supporter of my friends. And don't like seeing them hurt. "Success in almost any field depends more on energy and drive than it does on intelligence." Sloan Wilson

I understand what you are saying, Cheeky, but I think the Den has been rather fairly and consistantly stopping threads that go off topic. As far as banter goes, I believe that as entertaining as it can be, many members get frustrated if their question goes unanswered due to the topic being changed. It would be my assumption that private chat between people probably should stay private, allowing members who have a particular interest in a topic to be able to find some answers without having to weed through banter. Most members have limited time to be in the Den, and appreciate getting to the point. Queen of Innocence "Well behaved woman rarely make history"

I have to wonder Cheeky....do you have both sides of the story?? EVERY story has two sides...and there is nothing wrong with defending a friend...but you have to know both sides. |

Cheeky, we do the best we can here, and we may not be perfect, but we try to keep things running smoothly. If you want to say something just say it, because of the way you've phrased your post it's too vague to know exactly what you're talking about. If you have a problem with this site, state the problem specifically so we can address it here. As for personal lives being personal, you're right about that. But remember this is a public forum and anyone can read it, I've said this time and time again here. The cyber world is a big place but our corner of the world can get very small. I'm not sure what you're getting at exactly in your post so I'm not sure how to answer you. If you're trying to say something or have a specific problem, I suggest you just come out and say it. |

First) I'm not talking about threads going off topic, it is good to keep them on topic.Though we all goof up at times and slip off topic. Second) Yes,there are two sides to every story. What my concern is that someone feels they can't post without constantly being wrong. They can be on topic but they are in the wrong, Not for what they post but because of who they are. Sorta like being damned if you do and damned if you don't. I think if anyone, wants to reply to a message and they are on topic, then it should be okay. No one should feel like they don't have the right to post, because of who they are. What goes on in their personal life shouldn't have to go into consideration for their posting here. Cheeky, I have no idea what you're talking about. If that person feels they're being persecuted, they need to let me know. I personally haven't seen anything like what you're describing. Are you sure this person isn't just being overly sensitive? My suggestion to you is, let this person speak for him or herself so we can discuss this directly. |

The Den is a nice place, and all any of us can do is our best. I knew only a few select people would know what I was talking about. ButI had to vent my feelings. "Success in almost any field depends more on energy and drive than it does on intelligence." Sloan Wilson

"I knew only a few select people would know what I was talking about." Honestly, this is the sort of thing I'd like to avoid here. If you can't say something outright and for everyone to understand, then don't post it for everyone to read. It makes people feel like they're out of the loop and suggests there are cliques they aren't invited to belong to. It divides the group and it's not fair to all the other members. I don't mean to sound harsh, but I have to look out for everyone here. (Message edited by bethie on June 01, 2006) |
