Between the menopause and fibromyalgia, I'm NOT having a good day. My poor hubby has tiptoed around me. He wouldn't dare suggest a spanking when I'm like this. One second I'm crying and depressed, then hotflashes, then I just wanna kill something. And I have HRT. Does anyone else get like this? Or am I just psycho? Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Although I can't understand what you are going through with menopause, nor the fibromyalgia, I can empathize with the HRT, because I have had HRT shots and when I was on them I would cry at the drop of a hat, scream and go crazy and was pretty much crazy. I still take progesterone and ovcon everyday without the placebos so I'm still pretty certifiable, lol... but seriously, I am sorry that it is so bad for you. I do hope it gets better. Hey Shylah You already know that my surgery 2 weeks ago was a total hyster. I am not on HRT therapy, but thankfully have not had any serious menopausal symptoms to speak of (yet). I do get emotional - cry - then get pissed off for some ridiculous thing. A few people have suggested flax seed, evening primose, Vit C, and Vit E (along with magnesium citrate and calcium). I have some info on it if you are interested...just PM me. Hang in there girl- we are here if ya need us!

Hugs Shylah - I've got the menopause blues also. But my moods seem to be pretty stable at this time at least. I have found that the over the counter Estroven does help me with the hot flashes at least and maybe the moods too. It is crazy and I don't understand it but when I get the hot flashes and my face gets hot it turns beat red and it burns and stings. The doctors say that is even a new one to them. They don't understand it either. I guess it is different for all of us. The Spice of Life is having my OWN WAY!! A spanking would be nice.

Thanks guys. I'm better today. When the symptoms get to me that much, sometimes I just have to put it into words and that seems to help. Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Ok, ladies, do you think it's possible for men to go through some form of menopause? I'm thinking of the mood swings and hot flashes, not to much the sexual/reproductive side of the issue. |

I have heard that men do go thru a sort of "menopause". And it's hell for them as well as for us females. Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

I think mem find this difficult. It isn't easy to deal with yoru partner as you might normally especially if you are into DD. |

I'm only a switch with certian people. With my husband, I am totally sub. The people I Top have no other outlet so I indulge them with my husbands consent. And yes, menopause is a horrible thing to go through. It's very tiring because of the mood swings. It drains all your energy. It makes you irritable and mean and you don't seem to have control over it. Taking estrogen suppliments long term can be damaging so I take "breaks" from wearing the patches. I don't like the side effects either because they cause breast pain and the damn sticky tape is hard to get off. I'm checking out an alternative type of therapy for this. Herbal remedies. And I found a Chinese Herbalist in town that I am seeing next week. I have a friend that swears by it so what can it hurt? I've never had accupuncture before and am afraid of needles...this could be interesting. Stay turned! Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Try the accupuncture....it isn't as bad as it looks. I did it once for neck pain, it helped. |

I've been menopausal for 2 years now. The hot flashes and irritability were making life miserable. A friend was on the Atkins diet and she suggested it to me. I read the book and began the diet and the most amazing result was..... the hot flashes have completely stopped! No more night sweats, no more irritable. I think it's because doing Atkins, you completely take sugar out of your diet. 6 months into the program, I find that if I have sugar, I get a mild hot flash or night sweat. When I stay away from the sugar, I'm in great shape. Not saying it would work for everyone, but it's doing some amazing things for me. I lost 20 lbs and got back into clothes that haven't fit in years! Sugar is a nasty substance, should be on the controlled list. I'm not sure but I think that if you have FM Shyla, eliminating sugar from your diet might be a good thing to try. |

Great advice, Weasel, glad you found a solution. I'm afraid when I go through menopause, I am going to go the opposite way and live on a diet of sugar alone. Queen of Innocence "Well behaved woman rarely make history"

I went through meopause at 36 (I didn't know I was through having children. I have loved the low dosed daily HRT. I am much happier with HRT than I was with moody periods. I have since had a hysterectomy, so I am just on estrogen now. I feel much more uniform emotionally. It's all a matter of perspective

The past few days I've been WAY better. Only now I'm swelling in my ankles so bad I can feel my skin stretching. So I went to the Doc and got water pills...then to the store to get bananas (for the loss of potassium) Now I gotta stay in close proximity to the bathroom. Hubby says my sense of humor is coming back. I don't have a sense of humor...it's daily observations!!! Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

You have a great sense of humor that I love to hear! As for hrt.. well... I had a hysterectomy and have been on hrt for 15 yrs.. about 6 months ago, I started having hot flashes, mood swings etc.. my doctor said my hrt was no longer working. He switched brands and now I am fine. Please speak to your dr. A woman`s heart may be filled with an ocean of secrets but mine have all been released and I have a sore bottom to prove it!
