I'm having to change my diet and I talked to a nutritionist last week about this. She said one of the great side effects of eating a high fiber diet is that you feel full faster and it stays with you longer. Also, snacking on fruits and veggies is much better than junk food and if you find things you like, you won't feel like you're being deprived of anything. Drinking lots of water is also very important. Lots of fiber and water for me from now on. It's for another issue, but she and my doctor both told me one nice side effect of this change will be that I'll lose some of this extra weight. I think they were trying to be nice and not tell me straight out that I need to lose weight. I kinda knew that already. I can read the scale, too, and it shows I had a really lazy winter. More so than I thought. I about fell of the scale when they weighed me. Ouch! |

I don't think people realize how important an exercise routine is to losing weight, especially as you get older. I found I couldn't lose a couple pounds that would sneak on through the winter till summer came. I spend all of July and August swimming at the river (with mask and swim fins). I call myself the river guard. I've saved two children and a mom from drowning in the 17 years that I've been going. Anyways I swim 3 to 4 hours every day as long as the weather allows, in 2 weeks I lose the winter extra, and it keeps coming off all summer. I have 2 bathing suits one smaller for August as my bottoms start to fall down. Most people don't have that much time to put into a routine. When swimming season is over I used to do my orbitreking for half and hour, a bit of stretching and some weights for my upper body, usually took about 1 and a quarter hours. I'd do it 3 times a week. I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I did that. I don't eat a lot of junk foods and I'll limit myself to 1 coke a day. But like I said on another thread, I haven't done my orbitreking or weights for almost 2 years, but I haven't gained any weight. All I can account for is the regular spanking and sex (every other day) that we have. In fact I lost too much weight after a year (been getting spanked for 2 years now), that I went for a checkup to make sure I didn't have cancer or something because of the weight loss. |

I'm all for this thread. I am good at eating the right things, lots of whole grain, fruits and I love veggies. My problem is that I am a stress eater and I always go for the sweets. It would be an understatement to say I have a terrible sweet tooth, because I have many sweet teeth. "Queen of Innocence""

YAY! Great Thread! I'm with you! So far this year I've lost 23 pounds. Slow but sure. I'm committing to another 23 this year. I haven't done anything but stop eating processed foods and exercising more. (I allow myself about 10% processed foods or else I go crazy. Plus, I NEED dark chocolate.) I need a little extra kick in the pants because I'm going to be working as a head librarian AND writing my dissertation AND teaching this semester-- so NO EXCUSES. Good luck all. Should we have a weekly "report" of how we're doing?? xx |

"diets" do not work,, you must change your eating habits. start eating lots and lots of veggies and nuts and friut along with meat and fish. you must get lots of exercise too. swimming is the most perfect form of exercise right under sex. breathing exercises work too.. deeep breathing, my next-x showed me the one they do at the ymca.. some of the faces and sounds are a riot. one sounds like a mule braying... laughing is another form of deep breathing, try taking 25 deeeeep breaths and see how much energy you use.. so.. at your next session you can show your s/o how well you can do.. when he drops his pants start the laughing and braying routine, he will immediately start the deep breathing with you. then as your posterior portions become more lobster like in color you will be exchanging good oxygen laden blood from your lungs to your rear. his arm moving up and down at a rapid pace will add to his blood exchange and be good for him too. |

I am going to make a commitment to myself to put good things in my body & to do some kind of exercise everyday. I am trying to teach myself to respect myself & eating/exercise is key in my mind. I know what I need to do. It is just how do I force myself to actually do it. I think the weekly report could be good motivation. BigGirl |

I wish I had found a thread like this a few months ago so that I could get into shape before I left for the AF. Anyways. I wanted to say that I have started trying to eat something small in the morning (like just one of those fruit smothie things) and then eat a good lunch and then eat something small at night. I don't know if it will work at all...but hey, why not try right? And I would also like to add, to those who say to drink diet or caffine free drinks, what if you can't? My mom is alergic to what they add in there...I don't know if I am or not (I just don't drink it) but what do they do? And good luck to everyone else! ~L~ (Message edited by blulizrdboots on June 06, 2005) |

I avoid "diet" drinks, because I am not comfomfotable with the chemicals. I base this on the fact that I get drastic headaches if I drink more than one. I also avoid caffeine, because I have trouble sleeping unless I have it only early in the morning. I have grown to love carbonated water. When I first started, I mixed it half and half with fruit juice and then slowly eliminated the juice. I also drink regular water and add a cherry, slice of lemon or lime and it adds just enough to trick me into thinking I am having something more exotic than plain water. I don't deny myself an occasional sugared soft drink, although I don't crave them anymore. I also make ices tea with decaf tea bags because I can drink a lot within a day. I don't add any sugar but use lots of ice. "Queen of Innocence""

biggirl....don't try to"force yourself" into anything... it will take a while to change your eating habits.. don't look at foods as healthy or unhealthy look at them as good or not... eat a half dozen meals a day. eat the whole grain energy bars, have an apple or an orange eat all the broccoli you can hold.... you will eat less fat that way and you will not eat as much either nor be as hungry... make your own trail mix and energy bars. nuts, dried fruit, dates, any fruit and oats and raisins mixed and pressed will do. there are lots of fun things to eat, just cut down on the portion sizes. steak twice a week is ok,, get the 8 ounce and share it with someone, rather than the 16oz that i used to want. .. baked potatoes are wonderful use oil and vinegar as a topping..... as you change your habits you will find that what you desire to eat will change also. please don't go at this like a prison sentance,,, it's not, it's an adventure in eating, you can break out of the rut you are in and explore new foods..calories are energy your body needs... the fats in food go directly to your butt... [makes good shock absorbers so his hand won't hurt] lastly in this tirade. your name is biggirl. maybe you are just that, a big girl, do you remember the model twiggy.... you aint her, you should not try... slim down to a "healthy" size, don't try to be like twiggy you will not be instantly surrounded by hunks of perfect manhood. throw the scale in the garbage, as you exercise you will gain muscle and lose fat muscle weighs more than fat, you will actually weigh more as you get slimmer.... if you need new panties or suspenders for the old ones your plan is working. even if you have gained 5 pounds. if you wish i will volunteer to be your personal cheering section and major critic. grrrrrrrr |

Bigfoot1408......I will glad accept all the encouragement & advice anyone has to offer on the subject. I don't want to get skinny anymore. I did want that for years but not now. What I want is to be healthy & not feel self conscious (sp?) in clothes. I am making emotional strides. I am just so confused about everything I read about nutrition...everything seems to contradict each other. So what you ae talking about make sense. What I have been thinking about the past week or so.....getting back to the basics & also avoiding as many chemicals as possible. I am going tostart experimenting with adding fruits to my water....thanks for the suggestion Fanny. Diet soad gives me horrid headaches too. |

remember the health class you took in school... it still applies... base your diet on vegetables, fruits and nuts. add a bit of chicken breast to the salad,,, put a baked potato in a bowl , add salad makings on top use oil and vinegar as a dressing, it will fill you up and clean you out in a calm normal way.. cut your red meat in half.... have one scoop of ice cream instead of three, eat several times a day,,, if you wait until lunch you will be hungrier and eat more than you should, eat when you get "snacky" instead of a set schedule. quit when you get full,, forget " you have to eat everything on your plate .some poor child in a distant land would love to have what you have,,,[and never, ever, ever tell your mother "well if they could eat this slop they can have it" not a good idea at all....] forget the nutritionists love,, you don't hear from the real ones anyway,, you hear the used car salesmen of the nutrition world.. you know what you need to do. eat light in the heat, heavy in the cold. calories are ok,in moderation, fat is not good,in moderation,, some now and then is sorta ok. get exercise use the stairs, your neighbor got on a health kick and spent 500 $ on a treadmill machine and a $1000,00 on a riding lawnmower..... |

Biggirl, I hope you realize that when Bigfoot says to eat several times a day he probably means snack size meals. I felt best when I hate 5 or 6 times a day, but I never hate a 'regulation' size meal. It was always small stuff like when I felt hungry I'd eat an apple. An hour and a half or two hours later I'd be hungry again so I'd eat again, a very small portion of food. I felt comfortable and got used to not eating big meals, actually didn't like to eat a big meal because I didn't like that full feeling anymore. Nuts can be fattening (check carbs in a carb counter), so I'd go easy on them. Try ice-milk instead of ice-cream, it's contains less fat. If you don't like oils on your potatoes just put a dribble of butter or margarine on, the point is to cut down and eat as little as you possibly can of fats. It worked for me, and still does. If it's crap food (snack foods like potato chips, etc) then don't eat it. You'll find when you start to succeed in your goal that you'll look at the garbage food and think "It's just not worth it, it took too long to get rid of what I have gotten rid of." |

yup she's right,,,, small meals snacks.. don't cut out all the carbs, your body needs some for fuel... if you eat six snacks you will eat less during the day and use more of what you eat and not have to"store " the excess under your hip pockets... |

Today I walked and ran 1.33 mi (about killed me but i did it!) and I burned a little over 119 calories in 28 mins. I haven't eaten much either. Today a piece of cake at work, and a microwavable chicken and dumpling. (Plus I want to add that since I graduated from school I gained 20 pounds from not walking to and from the bus stop a .40 mi walk to and from. Then walking to class quickly and not eating much at school, b/c...well ech, school lunches?) Biggirl. My mom dieted for a while. She would limit herself to 1000 calories a day (and it IS deffinently the calories you look at...not the fat)...and she'd try to go for a walk. Plus she'd try not to eat before she went to bed, since you're not really doing anything but sleeping and recharging anyways, you don't need those colorie energy boosters. She lost..I think 20 or 30 lbs in like two months. ~blu (Message edited by blulizrdboots on June 08, 2005) |

day (and it IS deffinently the calories you look at...not the fat)... i disagree on this statement,,,,, She lost..I think 20 or 30 lbs in like two months. and this one.... too.... calories are fuel for the body,, excess calories are stored as fat,,, the fat you eat goes directly to your butt as fat... any weight loss more than 2or three pounds per week is not healthy... you must eat to keep your health,,, starving yourself is not good. exercise, cut the sweets, eat vegetables, fruits and nuts.. and exercise, oh and do some exercises too... climbing on and off a lap is good... lots of hugging, lots of laughing, lots of loving, lots of singing, are the keys to a happy life... but most important pick a weight that is right for you.... i am 6 feet 4 inches tall i can carry 204 pounds well,, if i were 5 feet tall it would be too much,,, not all of us are built to be like the super models.. not should you try..... be you. that is enough for anyone who cares for and about you... |

Also if you cut out eating altogether and try to starve yourself your metabolism will slow down and it will take longer to lose weight, plus you'll start to feel like crap with no energy, weak, tired, headachy etc. It's better to eat good foods that don't turn to fat and smaller portions like I already mentioned. Don't forget to drink lots of water, 6-10 cups a day, it will help to flush fats from your body. Your complexion will improve as well, you'll notice a glow, and less dry spots if you have them. I found eating celery after 2 weeks that my complexion looked better, figured the water in it contributed to that so I started to drink lots of water as well and it got even better. I read later in a magazine that water helps to flush fat from your body. |

honestly I'm not sure exasctly how much she lost or really how long it took. And: "calories are fuel for the body,, excess calories are stored as fat,,, the fat you eat goes directly to your butt as fat..." So then I am right...TOO MANY calories are bad for you. So cutting down on calories should help. plus, i am 64" and right now weigh between 140-135 lbs. When I was in school, (a senior in HS) I weighed 125. And while a senior at HS we didn't have Gym class...so. |

Well then, shouldn't you look at the calories then when eating. I mean something like one of those Little Debbie cakes or something that's like 300 calories (exsageration) for just one, is way too much. But then eating about 300 for lunch or maybe even dinner (I mean a full lunch/dinner, veggies, fruit, meat, starch, grain. Even maybe a scoop of Vanilla..(hehe you're not the only one to at least try for humor..hehe)ice cream_ would be alright. Right? |

Right? you done good you are right,,, even a "pat" of butt er would be ok. the trick is to use more calories than you take in.. in a 24 hour period it does not matter when you take in the calories as long as you use them and more if you want to lose weight, |

It takes about 3500 calories to gain or lose a pound of body weight. Therefore if you eat 500 less calories a day, you will lose a pound a week. In addition if you burn another 500 calories a day, you will lose 2 pounds a week. One to two pounds a week is considered to be the safe way to lose weight. Toxins in your body (just picked up by eating and breathing) are generally stored in fat cells. The liver can only filter out so many toxins at a given time. By losing weight any faster, you get a build up in the liver and that is not good. Enjoy your treats but make them small and GOOD. Don't waste your money or calories on something that is not going to satisfy you. I would rather have an occasional scoop of very good ice cream than some cheaper crap everyday. I will spurge on good chocolate because I know that just a bit a day will satisfy me because it is so flavorful. I can eat a whole Hershey's bar and not get any real satisfaction. Also studies have proven that artifical sweetners can actually increase your appetite. Sugar only has 16 calories per teaspoon, so use it sparingly and dump the artifical stuff. The most important thing is not to "diet" the only thing that works is a life style change in the way you eat. You are just abusing your body in the long run otherwise. Fanny R.D. That is the exact approach I am taking. Changing the food choices I make. Not puttings lots of chemicals in it. I personally am drastically cutting down my sugar but that is FOR MY OWN soda addiction (I drank it almost exclusively siince age 3----I have the pictures to prove it) I am 35 & I know that is not old. But I also know that many smokers die very early (a neighbor of mine in his mid 40's) And I think my overeating (and I am only talking about my experience) is equally as serious as my smoking. Obesity is a problem in my family and my gram died before she was even 70. Heart Failure....weight had to have contributed I think. With my Aunt C being sick it brought this issue into the front of my mind & the fact that I am 35 & gram died before 70 hit me like ice water. I have one of those "gut" feelings (pun not intended--lol) that this is finally my time. That is what I am using my unemployment time for. To improve the emotional me. And not working FT in an office has helped me manage my fibromyalgia so much better. |

I have issues with my weight that weigh heavily on my mind, hips, boobs & BUM! I have just started a Blog on this a sort of weight therapy for me! Just me rambling about my Highs & lows of everyday dieting! Dieting - don't you just hate that word! Whoever invented it should be shot! 6yrs ago I lost 6stones in 6months by detoxing - and i kept it off - but in the last year i have gained about 2stone since the break up of my D/s relationship So now I am desperatly trying to get myself back to where i was. I have rejoined a gym, but just can't seem to motivate myself to go oh and getting back to drinking 2 litres of water a day - that is essential - keeps the wrinkles at bay too ;) Ours is not to question why ours is just to bend and cry

(For us Euro-challenged Yanks, six stones is 84 pounds. 14 pounds per stone.) You're an inspiration to many of us, K. You'll soon be getting begging from those wanting your secrets. Without the motivation of a D, the gym must be hard. We can supply you with virtual motivation, but then you'd just lose virtual pounds! (or stones.. whatever) I lost about 40 lbs a couple of years ago. It was easy - I stopped eating, and the pounds melted away. Sometimes it's great to be a guy. Down with pink panties!

The truth on weight loss by Chuck 1. All diets - all 20,000 of them work but you gain the weight back. Make gradual healthy choices replacing the bad stuff with the good. Find what works for you. Don't be hungry. Don't eat if you are not hungry. You do not have to eat everything on your plate. You do not need an excuse to refuse food. Drink water. 2. You must exercise. You do not need to join a gym, buy equipment or even strain. Walk and do simple stuff and stretch. This is for the rest of your life and not for a month or so. Fact: No matter how tired you are you will have more energy after a work out than before. Time: Make time - this is a priority. Note: If you even have a favorite TV show you have time to work out. 3. It is not fair for a man to punish his woman for not loosing weight. Support and positive reinforcement work best. Be a good example. 4. A hot, red bottom for skipping a workout is reasonable and justified as long as the man is doing his program. Chuck PS Over 35 years Don't mayo based food never ear at donut no chips - ever again desert is fruit not cake icecrean - twice a year only |

Losing weight is a cinch, girl. You just have to get used to being hungry all of the time. Women can be so complex sometimes... I have more diet advice for you, Fanny. Think of the weight that would come off if you had to eat standing up, because your bottom was too sore to sit at the table. That would take your mind off of eating, would it not? Now stop staring at my food. Look at the floor while you're waiting for your next order. Down with pink panties!

Here I go again in my weight control topic. Keeping yourself in shape is a life style. You should never have to be hungry all the time. Sensible eating is what weight management is all about. Starving yourself is not good for your body. Portion control and keeping yourself active is what works. In both the short run and the long run, you will only cause damage to your body by not meeting it's nutrional needs. Chuck you are right on the mark. Ben you want to challenge me to a "fast off"? I can guarantee you I would win. "Queen of Innocence" If you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning! "oooooo", she says!!

I've been overweight all my life. I weighed 315 pounds when I was 14 years old. At age 30 I married TD at 198. Today 27 years later I am at 228. Not bad. Chuckie has it nailed. Dieting and losing weight is about making good choices about food and exercise. It's about holding yourself accountable for your lifestyle on a daily basis. Its not about saying I'm weak if you eat that dessert. Its about honesty with yourself-you made a decision to eat something you shouldn't have. It would be just as easy to make the decision not to that the next day. Empower yourself!!! As to fasting, it is plain and simple a bad way to live or lose weight. Fasting can kill you!! I have seen a 19 year old muslim girl (student of mine) collapse from fasting during Ramadan. As did her 22 year old boyfriend. I have stood outside classrooms with massive glasses of OJ to give to my Islamic debate students the minute the sunset during Ramadan. The myth of women being able to fast on demand to meet cosmetic needs is wrong and dangerous. I have seen too many young women destroy their lives with aneroxia or other eating disorders. It is just not good idea unless it is motivated by religous or spiritual demands and is limited to those times. As to a BG punishment for those who violate their diets-fine-as long as its agreed on by both parties before hand. Make good choices consistently-its better for your health and your spirit. Fanny: It is a very bad idea to challenge anyone to a fastoff. Sort of like challenging someone to a game of Russian Roulette. Her love has no strings, No shackles or chains But I'm holding on for dear life- She feels like I'm rolling a seven-- Every time I roll the dice Delbert McClinton

Fanny, no 'fast off' is needed for me. I'm just perfect the way I am. Besides, I agree that it's a lousy way to lose weight. Also, Fanny looks pretty darn good just the way she is, if she is anything like what I've heard. I believe that if people want to lose weight, they need to find a program that they can follow *forever*, not just until they lose a certain amount. Down with pink panties!

Hi All: I think that it can be a good idea to journal. Find out why it is you want to eat. What "feelings" are you experiencing at the time. What kind of day has it been. What were the stressors of the day & what feelings did you have in the midst of the stress experience. That is what has helped me. But it isn't easy by any means. Because you are going to have to deal with the "feelings" & maybe even experiences from the past that present themselves thru the process of journaling. It is emotionally draining. I feel as though I am wrestling demons that have had their malignant tentacles around me my entire life. But.....now that I am doing this journalling & thinking/writing about things I am not eating mindlessly anymore. I am not trying to fill the empty emotional void within my soul with food. I am just gritting my teeth & waiting for the time when I start to feel better & stronger. And I cry a lot in the shower. But that is ok because it is healthy & part of the process. After a childhood of abuse I was a like a hard boiled egg. The shell is in pieces (before it is peeled) but still held together. In the past 15 years I have been.....I don't know...... getting my emotional self healed. And my weight is interwoven with the horror (therapist description not mine) of my childhood. I also have to say that I have found my yoga to be so deeply healing to me as well. The "exercise" of it is almost like a positive side effect. The yoga gives me an opportunity to genuinely connect to my soul much quicker then meditation does. Just my experiences....I am no expert. Brightest Blessings,BigGirl |

Fanny: That is EXACTLY it. It is why you are putting all the food in your mouth all the time when you are not physically hungry. Physical hunger is completely different from emotional hunger. There is a song by Alanis Morsette called "the Doctor" & one of the lyrics is:I don't want to be the food in your fridge at midnight/What are you hungry for????????????? BG |

I threw my scale out the window years ago (metaphorically speaking) I won't even have myself weighed at the doctors office. People carry weight differently, and muscle weighs more than fat. I mostly go by how my clothes fit and if I am comfortable with how I feel. Woman also flexuate throughout the month with water gains. What you weigh (within reason) is all about how you feel about yourself, and what your energy level is. Most woman are socially trained to go for that Barbie doll image. It is unobtainable. You are soooo right Fanny I actually gave my scales to my daughter (as they were new and I had only recently bought them)Anyway I was at hers last night and I made the mistake of stepping onto them - I should not have done that because I felt all my renewed confidence, drain out of me the moment I did. Luckily my Will Power is still strong! 'Ours is not to question why ours is just to bend and cry' Spank me if you Dare!

The scale can really put you in a tailspin. It shouldn't be a baromiter of our mood, but it is. Weight up, mood down, weight down, mood up, we have to stop giving so much power to that number. "Queen of Innocence" If you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning! "oooooo", she says!!

I keep my scale, but I only use it once every week or two. It's good to track trends, but the daily ups and downs don't mean much. You should use it to adjust your habits, and see what's working. If you like the numbers you see, you're doing the right thing. If not, you need to change something. You're not going to get this kind of feedback by trying to chase the numbers around every day. My $.02 worth--I work at a women's gym. When heavy ladies come in, I always have to tell them that they may not lose weight for as much as two months, but they will lose inches if they stick to their workouts. I've had two gals this month in tears because they didn't lose weight. One had lost 10 inches and two dress sizes, but no weight. Ladies, be good to your selves!! The weight will eventually come if you keep up the exercise and sensible eating! |
