I know that there have been previous threads about what implement you like best (paddle, cane, strap, etc.) Anyone want to recommend a specific implement that people can actually purchase? Let's face it...buying some "weapons of ass destruction" is pricey. It would be interesting to get the pros and cons of some that people have actually used. One I would recommend if you like giving or getting a severe strapping is the Barber's Double Razor Strop from The London Tanners. It's heavy and packs quite a wallop. My wife gave me about forty hard strikes with this a couple weeks ago and I still had bruises several days later. Anyone else? |

I have one that I made of birch (hard, but light, for maximum speed of wrist-snap on the swing, which is more important than the shoulder power behind it). Dimensions: 22.5" x 4"" (business end) x 0.4+". It's rounded and widest at its farthest end, as I said, and it tapers to a little over 2" immediately above the grip, which I've notched to fit my fingers and equipped with a strap to secure it to my hand. The transition between the grip and main body is reinforced with two metal strips to prevent breakage at that point. With the weight distribution to the far end, plus the quick speed, it lands a stinging wallop (even through jeans)with tremendous noise, but w/o too much fear of bruising, given the lightness of the wood. Also, I've rounded all the edges completely to remove the danger of cutting. As a crowning touch, I painted it gloss black. |

For me the best equipment is the one/s I have made myself, either out of wood or 1" thick rubber - I get quite a kick out of making the stuff not only from a craftmanship point of view but also from an "end"users point of view. |

I find the best ones are the ones that we have around the house that are actually supposed to be used for other purposes. Really cheap and sneaky too. Queen of Innocence "Well behaved woman rarely make history"

Wooden spoon. Leaves lovely marks, too! I fear thinking what a full-size wooden paddle would do! |
