"Stewardesses" is the longest word typed with only the left hand ..
And "lollipop" is the longest word typed with your right hand. (Bet you tried this out mentally, didn't you?)
No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, or purple.

Re: microwave Actually that chocolate bar story is a bit of a myth. From very early on (pre WWII) it was known that radio waves and the shorter microwave radiation heated various materials which absorbed them - a number people working with radar in the war were injured, in some cases fatally, due to accidental exposure to microwave radiation. Internal damage and blindness could result before the victim was aware of the problem.
My Phd supervisor was using surplus WWII radar equipment back in the '50s for various studies using microwaves (including building a Maser - the microwave fore-runner of the Laser). He used to use a 100 watt microwave generator to warm his lower back muscles by standing in front of the open wave guide. He said the trick was to keep moving and know how close to stand....
He lived to a ripe old age so I don't think it did him much harm...
Also researchers at Rayethon in Kitchener-Waterloo where using microwaves to heat their lunches as early as 1955. As a kid around 1960 or '61, I saw a refigerator sized "Radar-range" at the home of a Rayethon employee (my Godfather). It was used to make tea for the adults and cook hotdogs for us kids.
PS - how would the Chinese continue to reproduce if they were all lined and marching up 8 abreast?? "Hey you two - Get back in line!" |

I just realised how scary and/or WEIRD a few of those facts are.
That one about the kneecaps explains why little kids have such flexible legs, though, doesn't it?
Warning: Multilingual Brat approaching....hairbrush IS a language, right?
