MJ stood up on surprisingly steady legs. As much of a whirlwind that her mind was in, that surprised her. She looked at Liam a moment, noting his smile was a touch sad and wondered about that. But she just had so much going on in her brain that she couldn’t focus on him. There was a little stand near the entrance, and she was able to get two bottles of water. She stood there, sipping hers. Grateful for the cool drink that she could hold against her overly warm face, but more grateful for the time it gave her to think. While MJ stood there, a gentleman with a red name tag came up and introduced himself. She smiled graciously and chatted for a moment, but her mind wasn’t on the conversation. Quickly, and she hoped politely, she excused herself and walked back to Liam. “Here, Liam.” MJ held out the bottle of water to him. Liam looked up, startled to see her, and took the water. “You did come back.” He sounded surprised at that. “Didn’t I say I would?” MJ settled into the chair. “No. At least, I don’t think so.” Liam furrowed his brow as he thought, but then shook it off. “I just thought -“ He gathered his thoughts and started again. “I know you are new, and there is a lot going on. I wasn’t sure if I’d pushed you too hard. Even though I didn’t spank you.” MJ fiddled with her water a moment, nibbling her lip. “Liam? If it was too much for me - it wasn’t, but what if it was? Would you have done anything differently?” Liam thought. “Do you mean, if I knew that even that punishment was too much, would I have done it?” “Yes, no. Dammit, I don’t know.” Frustrated, MJ took a sip of water. “Language,” Liam said absently. They sat in silence, each thinking deeply, until Liam broke the silence. “Kitten, this party - and others like it - are really about play acting for most people. That’s not a bad thing,” he rushed to say. “I do that myself. Like I said before, I’ve been coming to these for a long time. And many others. Most of the people are either strangers to each other or, at best, friends. There are some couples. But most are simply like-minded people enjoying a part of their life that the mainstream world is only now learning not to frown on.” He looked at MJ, making sure that he had her attention. “I say all of that to say that there is a huge difference between what two people do in a role-playing - or play-acting, however you want to call it - scene, and what two people do when they are in a real relationship. Even just a deep friendship, where each knows the other’s limits - physically and emotionally - where the lines are drawn, and just which lines can be crossed.” Liam waited while MJ listened and thought on what he said, and nodded to show her understanding. “The thing is, there are also lines - boundaries - for two people who have just met and are starting to figure that stuff out. For the evening, I mean.” “Like you and I,” MJ said softly. “Like you and I,” Liam agreed. “And, sometimes, those lines can get blurry really fast.” Liam paused, knowing what he wanted to say, but working out how. MJ, however, heard Liam’s words and his pause, and jumped to her own conclusion. “It’s alright. I understand.” Liam looked at her, confused. “It’s alright, Liam. You don’t have to worry about being kind. We crossed a line that you didn’t want to. I’m sorry that I put you in that position.” MJ stood up as she spoke, turning to walk away now that she’d released Liam from any obligation to her. She didn’t make it far at all before his voice sounded behind her in a low growl. “Little girl, if your butt isn’t in that chair in about a second and a half, I’m going to forget that you *don’t* have that dot on, and I’ll paddle you until you *can’t* sit in that chair!” MJ spun, wide-eyed to face him, freezing in place. When Liam moved to reach for her, she broke whatever hold was keeping her in place and launched herself into the chair. Not trusting that he wouldn’t grab her back out of her seat, MJ gripped hold of the chair seat with a tight grip, trying to anchor herself there, and watched him warily. Liam closed his eyes and took a deep calming breath, spun his chair so he was facing her, and wheeled right next to her. Raising one index finger and pointing it at her, he spoke in a low, deliberate voice. “That will save your butt. *This* time. And *only* because we haven’t finished this conversation.” MJ was nodding vehemently, not caring about anything other than that he was going to carry through on his threat. “But, little girl, when I give you a direction, you do not stall, you do not procrastinate. Am I clear?” MJ just kept right on nodding fast. A sudden image of her as a bobble-head doll flashed in Liam’s mind. “Let me amend that to include questions. When I give you a direction, or ask you a question, you do *not* stall or procrastinate. So, let’s try that again. Am I clear?” MJ nodded fervently, but added her voice in a very subdued, “Yes, Sir.” “Good. Repeat it back to me.” She didn’t even blink, “When you give me a direction or ask a question, I may not stall or procrastinate.” “Good girl.” His expression softened, and MJ relaxed minutely. She tensed up again as Liam said nothing, staring at her thoughtfully. “Why were you leaving?” he finally asked. “I thought - ,” MJ shrugged, still not convinced the conclusion she’d reached was the wrong one. Liam watched her, then prodded. “You thought what?” MJ looked away from him, not wanting to answer. Liam shook his head at her stubbornness. “What’s the rule you *just* got?” MJ whipped her head around to Liam, already having forgotten that rule. “Right. Sorry.” “Uh huh. Answer my question.” MJ closed her eyes, groaning. Part of her recognized that she had pushed Liam on this farther than she should, and wanted to behave the way he expected. But, the rest of her just wanted him to drop it. It wasn’t important, in her opinion. “Okay. We do it your way.” He wheeled back a bit, and MJ opened her eyes to see him pointing at the wall. “Nose against the wall, little girl. Take all the time you want to remember the rules.” When MJ hesitated, his eyes flared. “*NOW,” he growled. MJ leapt out of the chair to stand at where he’d told her for the second time, fidgeting her hands in front of her again. “Hands at your sides,” Liam reminded her. “Breathe deeply and steadily.” He watched her carefully, noting that she struggled to get her hands into position, but she obeyed him. Slowly, MJ calmed, only the tapping of her fingers against her legs displaying her nerves. Liam just watched her, noting that she was slowly relaxing and, as she did, her shoulders slumped and her head dropped to the wall. He gave her time to think, planning to call her to him in a couple of minutes. Again, though, she didn’t wait for him. Her soft voice carried to him, “Sir? May I please turn around?” This time, Liam didn’t immediately give her permission. “Why do you think you’re ready, little girl?” MJ squirmed anxiously, her voice going even softer. “I remember my rule, Sir. I’ll behave.” Liam nodded to himself. “Turn around.” Again, MJ turned in place, but stayed near the wall. Liam didn’t say anything at all, but simply waited. MJ glanced at him, then stared at the floor as she recited, “I may not procrastinate or stall when you give me a direction or ask me a question.” “Good girl. You remember the rule. Are you ready to obey it?” If her voice got any softer, he wasn’t going to be able to hear her. “Y-yes, Sir.” Liam tilted his head at her chair. “Sit down.” MJ skirted nervously past Liam, settling into her chair to sit tensely. Liam wheeled closer to her. “Let’s try this again. Why were you leaving?” Most of the harshness had left Liam’s voice, but it was still plenty stern enough for MJ to finally behave and stop pushing him. “I thought,” she hesitated, then sighed and finished. “I thought you were just building up to walking away. You know, since I didn’t want a spanking.” “Ah,” Liam understood what had happened. “You figured you’d say it first?” “Kinda,” MJ admitted Liam reached out and gently tipped up MJ’s chin, leaving her no where to look, but at him. “Baby girl, I’m enjoying myself.” When she just blinked up at him in shock, Liam grinned and nodded at her. “It’s true. Yeah, you’re misbehaving and earning punishment. And, yeah, I think spanking should be part of it. In one case, at least.” He paused, raised an eyebrow at her for a second, then dropped it and continued on. “But I don’t *need* to spank you. My evening is made or ruined because I get to spank a woman. I said I’ve been to plenty of these parties, and I have. There’ve been several times that I didn’t spank anyone at all.” MJ snorted, not at all believing that. “Oh, please. Right. You’re here all the time with *your* personality and attitude? Subs probably follow you around the place like fangirls, misbehaving just for the chance to get spanked by you.” Liam burst out laughing. He couldn’t help it. This was the girl who blushed at the word ‘punish’, and she just tossed out a line like that. And the picture she created in his mind was hilarious. His laughter wound down, and he made the mistake of looking at her face, and noting her disgruntled expression. For some reason, that started him up again, and he threw his head back, laughing until he wheezed. “Damn, girl. You’re terrific.” “Language,” MJ pertly sassed at him, a grin escaping her. That brought Liam up short, and he laughed again, a little embarrassedly that time. “Yeah, I deserve that. Goose and gander. In *this* case,” he said, grinning. “What I was saying, Sassy One,” Liam teased her, and gently tugged a lock of her hair, “is that spanking the goal for a lot of people when they come here, and that’s fine. It’s just not my sole and solitary goal. Oh, I’m not at all going to complain if someone I like is in the mood to be spanked by me. Love the idea.” He waggled his eyebrows at her lasciviously, making her giggle. “But, if I have the chance for a great conversation, with a clever, witty, funny, pretty woman? I’m going to enjoy that, too. Sometimes more.” “There’s someone like that around? I must meet this paragon.” MJ quipped, striving for a humorous tone. By the look on Liam’s face, she’d failed to make that sound like a joke. “Well. That bit of misbehavior brings us right back to the original conversation.” No laughter in his voice now, Liam gave MJ a look that had her squirming in her seat. “Can I trust that you’re not going to try to up and leave before we’re done talking this time, little girl?” Since they’d started talking, Liam hadn’t once used her name. At least, the name he knew she had - Cat. He’d used a couple of pet names, and she found herself enjoying those quite a bit. But, she’d noticed that when he was scolding, his preferred pet name was “little girl”. But it didn’t feel like a pet name to her. And it seemed to get her attention each time he used it. MJ nodded at him slowly. “Yes, Sir. I’ll stay put.” Liam looked at her steadily, until her eyes dropped to her lap. “So. You asked a question. And it really was a good one. And it deserves an honest answer. A full and honest one.” Liam’s voice was soft, but not at all hesitant. “But, it wasn’t necessarily an easy one. Patience would be appreciated.” Liam looked steadily at MJ, causing her to blush softly and drop her eyes again. “If I knew that putting you in the corner was too much, of course I wouldn’t do it. Not because you’re new or inexperienced, but because that’s ridiculous.” Liam looked around the room, noting people that he knew for years, and people that were brand new to the scene. “Whether it’s a scene,” he continued softly, “or real life, if you - a sub - misbehave and earn a punishment, punishment should be delivered. No question on that. But, whatever I - the dom - think, if something is simply too much for her, then it’s not punishment. It’s abuse. With me?” “Yes, Sir. And that makes sense. I just can’t imagine how being in the corner would be too much or abusive,” she shrugged. “Neither do I, but that’s not the point. Could it be for someone? Sure. Which puts it off-limits. So, change the punishment. What if a sub can handle being in the corner, but being spanked is too much for her?” Liam looked pointedly at MJ, not in complaint, but making sure she got the point. “Same rule applies. If it’s too much, it’s off-limits. Discipline is to teach, and punishment is part of that. If any punishment is too much, it can’t teach at all. The point is lost. My job is to learn what works, what doesn’t, what is off-limits, what isn’t, and what is off-limits *for now*. As two people get to know each other better, they change, life changes,” Liam shrugged, trying to explain the deeper situation, “what is too much for someone at one point, becomes something they can handle later on. Sometimes.” He fell silent, still thinking how to get to the full point and answer the question he believed she’d asked. “Kitten. If we spend this entire evening talking, and you aren’t ready to be spanked, then a spanking is off-limits. That’s just the way it is. If you come to another one of these - and I really truly hope that you do - and you aren’t ready to be spanked, then you aren’t. Not until you’re ready.” He waited again, giving MJ time to absorb what he said. “But, I think, you were asking something a bit deeper,” Liam continued, watching MJ hunch into herself a little more. “I feel like you weren’t asking about a scene spanking. Or even a spanking, really, at all.” He hesitated, not quite sure what to say. In the end, Liam just told her how he felt. “Kitten, I’m enjoying talking with you - and you’re just going to have to trust that I’m telling the truth in that. But, you do have a couple of habits that I don’t appreciate. Or like. I don’t believe that you’re being a brat. That you’re doing these things on purpose to tease your way into a spanking -“ MJ shook her head hard, looking up at him and opening her mouth. Liam simply put his finger against her lips, keeping her quiet while he continued. “I don’t believe that you’re being a tease. I feel like these are, simply, your habits. The way you’ve gotten into the habit of being. Maybe they wouldn’t bother someone else. Another Dom. But they do bother me.” Liam smiled at MJ, gently tapping her nose with one finger. “You like to stall when I tell you to do something. I don’t think you’re nervous or afraid, I think you’re used to running things, and that’s your way of retaining some form of control. That’s okay, I can handle that, and when you do that with me, you’ll end up in a corner or nose to the wall.” MJ’s blush flamed, and she dropped her head as Liam continued. “You try to make my decisions for me. I really don’t like that one. I’m a grown man, little girl. If I can’t make decisions for myself, then I have no right claiming to be a Dom.” Liam narrowed her eyes at her lowered head. “Again, I can handle that. You keep trying to take over, and I’ll remind you who’s in charge while you’re standing with your nose to the wall.” He paused just long enough, “With your skirt held up to your waist.” He heard MJ’s shocked gasp, and grinned as she suddenly grabbed the hem of her skirt, holding it tightly down against her knees. He did love her responsiveness. Especially when she didn’t realize she was doing it. “So, who’s in charge at the moment?” He drove the point home “You are,” MJ whispered low, squirming under his stare. “Uh huh. Remember that.” He waited again, before continuing. “Those habits of yours irritate me. But, you’ve got one habit that I really hate, kitten. *I* think you’re pretty terrific. And we’ve only known each other for an hour or so. I don’t think that you’re stupid or an idiot or a coward or any of the things you call yourself. Frankly, I don’t think *you* fully believe those things. Not really.” Her head so low, Liam could barely see MJ drawing her lower lip into her mouth, worrying it with her teeth. “But you keep saying those things about yourself. I don’t know why. And I. Don’t. Like. It.” MJ found herself rubbing her tummy anxiously as she listened to his low, firm voice. “I don’t like the things we talked about. But I really hate that one. There’s no reason for it. There’s no purpose in it. There’s simply no excuse. The world is already trying to tear everyone down. Why would you help the world tear yourself down?” He shook his head, not wanting an answer to that. “No. That habit, little girl, is a very bad one. But, I’m willing to punish you,” there was the blush, “for the others. Why not this one?” MJ lifted her head to look at him and nod. “Because of importance. That habit, little girl, in my opinion, is worthy of a spanking. And I simply don’t have that right.” MJ blinked at him, her mouth in a small ‘o’ of surprise. Everything he said made sense. But what struck her so deeply is that none of this - NONE of it - sounded like play or a scene. It sounded real. Like he cared if she was unhappy. Why should he care? “Why shouldn’t I?” Liam asked, causing MJ to realize she’d spoken aloud. She shook her head, and finally blurted what had really been bugging her. “But this is all for fun and games. And that’s great. But you don’t sound like you’re playing or doing a scene. You sound -“ she scrambled for the right word. “You sound *real*. But it can’t be real, because this is for play. But that’s how you sound. Like it matters to you. I don’t understand why you would even care. And I don’t know how to respond like it’s the game it’s supposed to be, when you sound like it’s not a game.” Liam felt relief flow as he finally understood what was getting her wound up. He nodded at her to show he understood what she was saying, and carefully thought about his response. “I want you to listen, kitten. And I want you to know that I hate lying. I really do. I won’t accept it in someone else - not that you’ve lied to me or I think you will - but I also won’t lie to them. So, trust what I tell you is true.” He paused a moment, gathering his thoughts. “It doesn’t feel like a game, because it’s not a game. To me. Right now. With you. Did I come here for a fun and games spanking, for a scene? That’s what I’m trying to tell you: I didn’t come here for anything in particular. I had no agenda. I saw you watching a scene, and I just liked the way you reacted. Honest, real reactions, there on your face. That attracted me to you, and I wanted to talk to you. When we did, I just *like* you.” Liam nodded at her, reinforcing what he was saying. “So, there I was with no agenda. If I spank or not, I’m going to enjoy myself. And there you are, funny and witty and easy to talk to. So, I *enjoyed* myself. And I relaxed. You’re right, I’m here a lot. And, you’re right, I tend to attract people that want to play. Like I said, I enjoy that. But, there’s kind of a freedom in getting to simply be me - Dom and all - with someone who wasn’t looking for whatever angle was going to get her spanked.” “Oh,” MJ said. “I hadn’t thought that way.” “Yeah,” Liam answered dryly. “I’m enjoying *not* spanking at the moment, and the girl I’m talking with keeps wanting me to go away and spank someone. Gee, if only I could decide for myself what I want, huh?” “Point already made, yanno,” she grumbled, snapping her mouth closed at his look. “The thing is,” he continued without commenting on her sass, thankfully, “what you see is what you get. I *am* bossy by nature. A Dom, if that term fits for you. Some folks slip on the persona, come and play, and then go back to their lives. And that’s great for them. Have at it, enjoy. I, on the other hand, am not playing a role. The way I am here is the way I am in my day to day life. Minus the threats of spanking and corner time,” he grinned at her. “That would make work a little interesting, I could imagine,” MJ quipped, finally relaxing again. “Oh yeah. But meetings would be a lot shorter. Anyway,” Liam smiled. “I *am* that person. And, from the way you act, I believe that what I see with you is what I get. That being submissive isn’t a role you are putting on, it’s what you are. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so. And, both of us being this way, I’ve been reacting naturally. As, I think, you have.” MJ nodded. She hadn’t thought or planned. She’d just been reacting to Liam’s tones and words. It had felt freeing. “So, you have been sitting here, thinking that everything here *has* to be a scene, because why else would anyone be here, right?” Liam shook his head gently. “I’m telling you, it doesn’t *have* to be a scene. You have a wonderfully submissive nature, and my naturally dominant nature responded. I wasn’t playing a scene. My reactions to you, were just as real as your reactions to me.” MJ just stared at him, her mind racing. “At the same time, kitten, it’s my job to do it safely. To recognize that you came here with an idea of how things would be - whether this fits it or not. And, to recognize that *you* have to set your limits on what you can or cannot handle. And to recognize that you have the right to do that.” He pointed to her shoulder, empty of the dot acknowledging that she was ready for spanking - fun or otherwise. “There *is* no pressure. Not from me. And there shouldn’t be from anyone else. That you’re not ready for a spanking does not change, at all, that I like talking with you. That I think you are witty and clever and funny and - and don’t you shake your head at me, little girl - and interesting and pretty and submissive. Which means, for me, that the only thing you not being ready for a spanking does is ensure that I let you know when I don’t like you doing something, and dealing with your behavior *as far as I can*. Now, if you decide that you’re ready to be spanked, the only thing that changes is that you hand me another tool - for lack of a better word - to deal with your behavior. The things I like or don’t like aren’t going to change. My limits on what I’ll accept from you won’t change. Just how I deal when you aren’t behaving - with me, at least - the way I like changes. You know what it’s like to stand facing a wall. You don’t know what it’s like to do that with a bare bottom. And you don’t know what it’s like to be spanked. Especially for punishment.” Liam sat back in his chair, letting MJ work through the things he’d said. When she finally spoke, her voice was slightly embarrassed. “How is it that you figured that out about me in - what - less than two hours? And I couldn’t make anything make sense in months. Years, maybe.” “I’m just that good,” Liam grinned at her, his grin growing when she laughed. She tilted her head, giving voice to one last concern in her nervous mind. “But, what if I’m not ready for anything more? For a sp-spanking,” Liam was falling in love with that blush, “especially not a punishment one.” Yep, blush just increased. “But I don’t stop the behaviors that you hate.” “You mean, what if I can’t spank you, but I think you deserve one?” MJ nodded at him. “Then I have to decide if I like talking with you and being with you enough to put up with the frustration of not being able to correct a behavior that I think is damaging to you. The extreme frustration,” he emphasized. “If I thought you were misbehaving on purpose, getting into trouble, but then using it like a ‘get out of spanking’ card, I don’t think we’d even be having this conversation. If you were the type to do that, you’d either already be spanked - or ready to be - or I wouldn’t have enjoyed being here with you enough to have stayed this long.” Liam shrugged. “So, yeah. You’re being real in your feelings and reactions, and I’m treating them that way. If you keep insulting yourself, and making decisions for me, and I can’t spank you for that, I’ll do my best to correct it with a scold and put up with the frustration. If I reach a point where I can’t deal with the frustration anymore, I’ll kindly excuse myself. I’ll be happy, glad, and grateful for all of the conversation we had. To me, the night will still be a success. If I don’t reach that point, I hope you can be satisfied with being scolded and put in the corner enough that we keep talking. And we end the evening content with what we’ve got.” “Wow.” MJ looked at him. “You are SOO not what I expected.” “What did you expect?” “I have no idea.” Liam burst out laughing and shook his head at her. “Baby girl. Maybe you can just relax now? Just keep being yourself.” MJ smiled at him broadly and nodded. “I think I can do that.” “Finally!” Liam teased her. And MJ did relax. So did Liam. They settled back into conversation for while, picking up where they’d left off before. Liam let MJ drive the conversation, truly enjoying the twists and turns of her mind. |
