I don't know about all of you but I love books. I have, however, noticed that the reading/writing thread on this forum is quite full so some of you like to read as well..or at least write. What typs of books do you like? I've got a love for fantasy and best of all... fantasy romance. Tell me about some of the books and authors you like! (here are some of my faves) R=Romance novel *The Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper *Christine Feehan's Dark Series (R) *The Harry Potter Books by JK Rowling *The Dark Hunter books by Sharron Kenyon(spelling?) (R) *Anne Rice's Vampire Chromicles (Love love love) *The Harper Hall Triology by Anne McCaffery *Just about any manga I can get my hands on..but that doesnt really count *Aragon (The inheritence triology by Christopher Paloni ) These are just a FEW of my favorite books. I'll post more as I think of them. Now its your turn. |

Oh, I love a lot of those! I drool over Christine Feehan, have read anything ever written by Anne McCaffrey, and adore Harry Potter. Some of my other favorite authors are... Nora Roberts Barbara Hambley PC Cast Piers Anthony Johanna Lindsey Nina Bangs Kelley Armstrong Did you know that one of Anne McCaffreys earlier works is a spanko romance? There's quite a lot of butt smacking that goes on between the 2 main characters, culminating in an otk spanking in the stall of a barn. The lead male is very Dom, and its a fun book to read, especially if you love horses. wolfie loves Steve more than anything else in the whole world...even more than chocolate and lobster! WHY ISN'T IT OCTOBER YET? *stamp*

If you like vampires, you might want to try the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. If you like funny vampires, try the Undead and Unappreciated series by MaryJanice Davidson. Wolfie, I think I read that Anne McCaffrey romance so many times that some of the pages wore out. The main character is quite toppy, isn't he? I'm also a big Janet Evanovich fan. They don't call me Reader Girl fer nuthin'. (Message edited by reader_girl on August 16, 2005) Reader Girl

Fanny, If you're interested in Anne Mccafrey's Dragonriders (Pern) series, you need to start with Dragonflight. I love the Crystal Singer series, which starts with Crystal Singer. I think the one with all the spanking in it is Ring of Fear. Also high on my list is Restoree. There is a good bibliography on her web site at: http://www.annemccaffrey.net/books/index.html Reader Girl

Okay, I found "Ring of Fear",it is now longer in print, written in 1970. I was able to order the paperback version used from Amazon. Thanks for opening a whole new author (to me anyway) If things get any less exciting around here, I may just have to start a book club thread!! We can sit around sipping tea and discussing the book of the week. Gentlemen.....WAKE UP!!!! I don't have many specific books that I like, more in the range of entire series: -Sword of Truth (10 books and counting) by Terry Goodkind -Riftwar (10 that I've read) by Raymond E. Feist -Wheel of Time (12 and counting) by Robert Jordan -any of the 19 written by David (and Leah) Eddings -The Dark Tower (7 and he retired) by Stephen King -Exiles (2 so far) by Melanie Rawn ... ok, so a lot of books, several that I can remember what their names are and who wrote them but should be on this list, like the Dragon's Blood Trilogy... forgot who wrote that, but those are the really good ones Kryssi is the sweetest, most innocent woman on the planet... while she's asleep.

Tyrnal, it is good to see you post. I have to admit that I don't recognize most of the series you mentioned. Keep posting, we need you! I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Okay, Wolfie I am about 100 pages into the book. I do horseback ride (on occasion) so I am appreciating all aspects of the story so far. It is very romantic. Without giving away any details for me, share your thoughts. For a mainstream book, Rafe is such a subtle yet clear Dom and Niallai is so full of secrets and strong, but is so fragile at the same time. The first time they had sex, he was so wonderfully delicate and it is written in such a way that you have to fill in between the lines in your own head. I like a lot of things about this book Fanny, especially the fact that I can empathise with the female character so much. Also it takes place in the time of my youth and on the east coast, so its even more familiar. Rafe is a marvelous character, strong yet gentle, all Dom but also very human. His natural tendency to swat her butt when displeased or having fun reminded me of someone else I know. *wink* Nialla is smart, fragile, courageous and needs to learn to trust him...a bit like that black jumper of hers. They have a past that neither of them knows about, but which will help them thru some tough times ahead. I grew up riding horses and doing some of the show circuit, so I only wish I had found my someone so like Rafe a little sooner. wolfie loves Steve more than anything else in the whole world...even more than chocolate and lobster!
