My husband hardly ever says morning/afternoon or even hello to me nowadays. This quaint verbal custom between couples seems to have been replaced with a smack on the backside as he walks behind me (but I do then get a kiss). I didn't think he needed to concentrate so much on it that he is left without words but it looks like it. Maybe this new greeting will eventually take over from the handshake.

at the north pole they rub their noses together. this has nothing to do with any sexual goings on (well not always), its to avoid taking their gloves off. So what should spankos do? Rub their bottoms together? I'm sure that everybbody here appreciates a little slap on the bottom at any time of the day

Ooh, I wasn't complaining, wouldn't dream of it - he might stop. It just struck me as funny that it has turned naturally into our new form of greeting.

When "R" and I hug, He ALWAYS swats my bottom - its part of the hug now  But he, too, like to greet me with a kiss and a smack - seems so natural doesn't it?  - i love it!

It certainly gives a new meaning to getting a warm welcome. The trouble is the occasion that he doesn't do it, I feel as though I'm missing something and my bottom starts twinging as if to say 'What about ME?'

The last time I was with Pagan and her hubby Squire, we played quite a bit. At the end of our fun time together, Squire gave me a nice snuggly hug goodbye...followed by a quick pat on the butt. I was a bit surprised at first, but ultimately pleased and got quite a chuckle out of it. Pagan was embarrassed when I told her what he'd done, but said he did it to her all the time and was just being affectionate.
I thought it was adorable.

 Wolfie, I was just going to tell this story when I saw that you already had!
Squire NEVER hugs me without patting my bottom. If he puts his arm around me, there is always a hand resting on my butt.
It's taken a fair bit of effort on my part to try to get him not to do that in public. I've only been marginally successful.
Clearly he thinks that if he's spanked a butt...it must be ok to pat it. Even if it's not mine. That man. I have my work cut out for me.  |

Sounds like me and my wife...when I hug her, at least one hand( if not both) goes to her tush. I also frequently smack her as I pass by, and she knows that if she's bent over for any reason and I'm in the vicinity, she's gonna get a swat (a friend on another board has termed those "drive-bys").

I do like that term, 'drive-by'. That's exactly what I get. I think he does it instinctively now and does even realise it. And of course, if one does often happen to be bending over as he walks past........
I've even got to the stage of accepting it as so normal that I don't bat an eyelid if other people do it as well, I don't mean perfect strangers in the street of course, but friends sometimes do it in jest. Do you think that some bottoms give off 'smack me' vibes?

My sister in law pats my bottom when ever i'm in swat reach or if she goes past , but she's the only other person who has spanked me since I got married. Wifey thinks its cute

I am not a switch, but I am known to give family members a pat as they go by. It is just a form of affection. Although, I can't convince my husband of that, whenever I do it to him, he takes it as a challange.

I don't know what your education system uses for grading but here in the UK schools you take 'O' levels and 'A' levels. I think we can adapt them nicely for you to 'Ow' and 'Aahh' levels.

Oh most definitely. A spanko friend of mine from the east coast has told me several times that she seems to give off that vibe...she's constantly getting smacked by people who aren't "confirmed" spankos and don't know she is.
In fact, the guy she plays with regularly made a bet with her that she'd get a spanking if she got smacked during a class she was taking, and sure enough, she ended up losing the bet less than halfway through it.
I have a few non-spanko (or at least unconfirmed) friends I've been very tempted to smack casually, though I'm very careful about that. The only one I do smack is a female firefighter on the department with me, and I only started doing that after she'd smacked me several times (she also smacks and gets smacked by other guys on the department). I'm pretty sure she's a spanko...still trying to figure out for sure.}

Chris, I think that's a fairly normal occurence in some work places, especially in a occupation like yours, where you really do have to work as a team and that closeness probably allows you all to 'take liberties' that you might not think of doing in another job. I used to work in a restaurant doing extremely long hours and a bunch of us had worked together for years and I was always getting smacked, but only by those with whom I had some sort of complicity. It's like they instinctively knew who I would accept it from and who not. It does make the day easier to get through somehow.

Well, our advantage is that its technically not a "workplace". We're volunteer firefighters (in the UK you'd call us "retained firefighters"), so we're not technically employees. Means we can get away with some stuff that would be a no-no at a regular job.
It probably does happen at paid departments too, but there have been some real problems with sexual harassment in the past in the fire service, so most paid departments have pretty strict codes of conduct. Unfortunately, a lot of "old-school" male firefighters weren't too accepting of women in the fire service when they started coming on and unfortunately, some still have that attitude.
Personally, I don't care what gender you are as long as you're gonna be there to back me up when I need it. We've probably got a higher percentage of female FFs than most departments in the area, and I have no problem with going into a fire with any of them.

Speaking of workplace stuff, I actually did get smacked on the butt by my female boss one time. Technically she wasn't my boss at that time, but she knew she was going to be. We were both involved in the same professional organization and were at an out-of-town meeting during the week between when I had quit my previous job and when I was starting working for her. The whole group was out at a comedy club one evening, and we were all fairly drunk. She'd been heckling the comedian, and as we were leaving, I made some comment (can't even remember what) back over my shoulder to her. Next thing I know, I feel a smack on my butt.  It happened to be her birthday too, so later that night, I loudly suggested someone give her a birthday spanking, but nobody took my suggestion.

That's interesting, Chris. I was part of a volunteer municipal emergency response unit in my late teens and very early 20s. I'm 40 now, so this would have been in the 80s.
I was one of two women in the squad, and by FAR the youngest person there.
I used to get swatted all the time. Not a hard smack or anything, more of a friendly greeting. "Hey kid", smack.
I was accepted there (probably because my Dad had been a part of the unit years earlier), although I never set foot in a building. I used to do telecommunications in the truck during calls.
In the 80s, I never saw a female FF on the paid force, and they told me flat out that I wasn't going into any buildings, although I did pass the physical (which was not adjusted for gender at the time).
I was fine with that. Different times...I don't think I ever expected differently. Funny how they didn't mind me hauling wet hoses around though.  |
