Hi all,

Does anyone here travel with their laptop? I'm going to Vegas soon and want to take my laptop but am a little concerned with leaving it in the room when my wife and I go (wherever).

I've only been to one hotel that had an in room safe that could accomodate a laptop. Should I take it to the front desk and have them hold it? How safe is it there though?

I know people travel with these all the time and was wondering what they do?

Thx!
Rex

Hi Rex ...I don't travel often but I always take my laptop with me and I have never had a problem leaving it in the hotel room. But if you feel that uncomfortable with leaving it in the room while your away from the room then I would just ask the front desk to hold it ...that way if anything does happen to it they are liable ...but I believe that they are liable regardless if you leave it in the hotel room or at the front desk. Hope this helps some.

Rex, I take my laptop everywhere, but I lock it to the desk with a padlock designed for that purpose.

My laptop is so old....a thief would probably laugh...and anyone snooping probably wouldn't know how to use such an old laptop. :-)

Fanny, that's an excellent idea. Where did you find that kind of lock, and what do you lock it to ON the laptop?

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback. After reading your post Fanny, I found some desk laptop locks online and will be ordering one shortly.

The ones online lock into a slot on the side of most laptops nowdays designed for that purpose.

Is that how yours works?

I'm going to look at mine when I get home.

Yes Rex, that is what I have. I can lock it to a desk or table leg. It slides into the side of the laptop and has a metal cord that wraps around.
