This came up jokingly in another thread. Where do spankos go for therapy?
Well, I'm returning to school in the fall, for psychology. I've been looking into marriage counseling, so I'm curious...
How would someone advertise to the spanking community, discreetly, in public? I was thinking if I ever opened my own practice I could call it "OTK Marriage Counseling" and just tell vanillas it stood for "Only Teach Kindness". 
What do ya'll think?

I started seeing a counselor at the exact same time as we turned are relationship on its head and started looking into new ways of doing things. Submission/spanking etc.
For the first few weeks I skirted round the issues but still talked about how I had given up control (or more how I was trying to give up control) and let my husband take the reins and how much happier we were now. I suspected she had some inkling of what was really going on but still we used euphemism's(spelling sorry). She also said the main thing was that we were trying to turn our relationship round instead of just letting it drift.
Probably the fault of this site. I know think everyone must spank so last week I told her straight  well sort of I told her about the submission part of it and the sort of discipline side of it. I still couldn't quite mention the word spanking although I have said I need a lot of physical stimulus and so maybe she knows that too.
I sort of thought this is silly- how can you get help if your not telling her the whole picture. It's confidential and she is trained to deal with all sorts of quirks.
Of course I still gaged her for 5 months b4 saying anything.
I did read on another site that there are counselors out there that do specialize in kink. Fantastic idea. I think -Put in a few abbreviations like you say and those in the know would just know. And like any good practice it would get round by word of mouth or should I say hand on bottom

I love the idea Butterfly! Like Misty I have heard about counselors that specialise in kink, and thought it was wonderful...if you could find them. Using abbreviations like OTK, HOH, D/D would certainly help people find you.

I have been doing our research THere is a man who is in Texas that has an awesome business up and running! There is another man who caters only to college students. He also seems to be prospering. Do you think we can get Government grant money to start up <g>

im in school for psychology too and i dont know if I could actually admit to my lifestyle that openly in my practice and have my practice be about that. I have researched it in the past there are books about spanking adults and its effects on depression and other factors. You should check it out! |

Sure I dont mind to share but I am not at home today I wont be home until Morning and I dont know the complete titles off the top of my head I have over 400 books and about 300 of them are psychology based books so dont want to give you the wrong titles lol!! Ok so the truth is out im a book nerd but hey I cant help it!!  |

Going back to the comments about could we get government funding to establish spanking therapy centers. . . .maybe if we could prove it to be a part of the war on terrorism, we'd be rolling in federal grants!!

hmm one has to wonder on this ...would the office be sound proof ..would there be spanking stools and benches ..not to mention the dreaded straight back chair? ..would you offer demos?
How about samples of tools ..I mean how can they get to the BOTTOM of the issuse with out a means of delivery ??
I would DRAG hubby there for a lil improvement ..ok it would be me getting it ..but still.

Yes you see my wife is at fault AS ALWAYS ..and she needs her wicked ways corrected ..could you please come and SHOW me your impliment prescription that would get to the bottom of this mood ??.. and the van could be used if the house has guests or what not ...hmmm Therapists that travel.... I'm composed.
It is an old saying in the states that when a doctor or someone like that opens up a new office...they "hang out a shingle". In other words, it's a sign with the name of their practice on it.
It came to be in the old west mostly when sign makers were scarce so a docotr would take an old roof shingle and paint his name on it and then hang it up.
OK..get it?
Don't think I'd like to get spanked by one tho...too many splinters.
