Has anyone here ever made a toy. Not like a kitchen utensil but I wanted spreader bars but I am so cheap I refused to spend that amount of money on them. I tried ebay but i wanted and didn't want to wait so down to the hardware store I went and I purchased some inch thick wooden dowels and some eye hooks. When I got home I used a drill and got the eye hooks in the end wrapped some leather I had in the craft box and presto! I have my own spreader bars. |

Sounds like you are very crafty indeed!! We actually made a paddle at a friends house...but it was kinda thin and it broke. I've painted a few paddles and I made some great flogger earrings from some left over leather. |

My DH has never made an actual toy, but he did make us a bigger wooden toy locker this summer, to put at the foot of our bed. We have always kept our adult items locked away; when one has kids at home this is a necessity. It looks like an oversized treasure chest with a rounded arched top; & has a thick metal handle attached to each side. It makes a fabulous spanking bench too, very sturdy; & with my wrists attached to each handle, he can go to town on my behiney with anything he likes, leaving little chance of me crawling up onto the bed & away from it's stinging kisses. Serve safely, sanely, & sensually~

I like the idea of making the spreader bars because you can make them just the right length and not have to worry about them being to long and too short. I do have a shorter one though. It is probably 12-14 inches and with that one it is really hard to try to rub a sore bum after a spanking which could be bad for you but good for the other half. I like hardware store, rings, chains ans snap closures all have my mind going. lol |

I have made just about every possible paddle and strap version that I have ever seen used in school and at friends homes over the years. Getting it good with each one has been very "educational" (if you will excuse the pun). I have tried making restraints but without much success. I'm sure no one here needs any new paddle design ideas but if so I will be glad to share. Ed |

Not yet, but Hubby and I are going to work on making a thick leather tawse-like strap with fur on the reverse. BV gave us a good tip on sewing at the shoe repair. I agree with you though. It's hard to find a good quality item you have in mind without spending a ridiculous amount of money on it. "It's not easy being pink...er, I mean, green."

Why do you think they call it Dom Depot? Seriously, I make paddles (both wood and lexan), straps, floggers, and spreader bars. Also delrin canes (which is a new way to say OUCH). |

I've made two floggers for my girlfriend to use on me. The handles were made from sawed parts of a wooden broom-handle, and I used a screw with a ring on its top (I don't know the professional English name for it) to connect the strings to the handle, then used isolator tape to wrap the handle and further secure the strings. The strings themselves were, in one case, small leather strands I've made out of an old belt, and in the other case a flexible, rubbery plastic-string cut into multiple pieces, each secured to the handle in its middle. |
