I didn't want to post anything before Christmas cos I didn't want to depress anyones holiday spirit. I didn't have any. Didn't even bother putting up a tree. You see, a week before, we were informed that because my hubby, who is 69, and had a little part time job that brought in enough money to barely get us thru from month to month, was reason to stop all his housing benefits and tax benefits. His pensions make the rent and utilities but not much else. So in order to get the benefits back, he had to quit the job which means we have to learn to live on £350 a month less. And since they stopped it until Feb...we didn't have anything to have a Christmas with. I was so depressed, I didn't care if it came or went. January is going to be difficult. We are cutting our budget which means internet access will only be a few hours a day and the broadband will have to go. We've turned off all the heating in the house except for the living room. The heater in the bedroom is set to come on a certian time for an hour just to get the chill out of the air. I quit using the dishwasher and only do the bare minimum for laundry. Food? Well, we are cutting back on what we buy and eating lots of casseroles and stuff that can stretch for more than one meal. One meal a day is pretty much it as well. I feel like old mother hubbard. So 2007 has to be better don't it? Someone tell me it's gona be cos I really can't take much more bad news. I hope everyone has a good New Year. Take care of yourselves! Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Dearest Shylah, You will get through this and I am not being flippant. Life is unfair as most of us know. Many of us have been in situations very similar to you and somehow we do get through it. I am sorry to hear that things are so very difficult right now and it seems all the worst during the Christmas season. I am sending you all my love and positive thoughts. Please feel free to PM me if want. I am completely with you on being very ready to let go of 2006, it has probably been the worst year of my life in many ways. So I am telling you...2007 will be better. Queen of Innocence "Well behaved woman rarely make history"

Shylah...I read your thread and could totally relate to what you are saying. The year 2006 has been the worst for me - Dad died in January, Mom has a severe fall in Feb and that put her in rebab for 68 days (I have to take care of her insurance, Medicare, drug plan, plus visit her every day etc), I was diagnosed with cancer, had surgery, went thru a few pitfalls with the docs finding gallstones (although they don't bother me), and now there is a cyst on my kidney (apparently nothing serious, but they are "keeping an eye" on it - great - something else to worry about). My kids live across the country and I miss them every day. I agree with Fanny........2007 is going to be a MUCH BETTER year - for all of us I am just going to think very positive thoughts for you Shylah~~ "Do I have to be good ALL the time?"

I'm sorry you wonderful ladies have had such a rough year. I really think this new year is going to be better for all of us. Dan and I hit a bump in the road recently, but I have hope and faith that the situation will improve. We're just taking it one day at a time. It's been a very low key holiday season, but that's okay, we're a bit too stressed for anything too exciting. Have a happy new year and take care, everyone! Wishing you all a much better 2007, even for those whose 2006 wasn't so bad. After all there's always room for improvement. Hopefully for Shylah and Pink it will be a huge improvement. I'm sending good thoughts and prayers to both of you. |

I know I'm not the only one who has had a run of bad luck. I didn't mean to have a Pity Party...I was just feeling down and depressed. I know some of us have had a really BAD year. Seems like just when you think you see the light at the end of the tunnel, it's just a train commin at ya. I have been told that when He closes a door he opens a window....my question is....WHERE IS THAT DAMN WINDOW?????? Thank you Fanny, Pink, BBride and Bethie and to Tammy...hugs to you cos I know how much you wanted to have your kids with you at Christmas. I know that's why you took that job so you could give them a good one. What a crap thing to happen. I've used today to try and do constructive stuff. I did some of my art...did some sewing...ate black eye peas...LOTS of those (can't hurt...right?) I know how to live on less...I've done it...it's just that I got used to having that little extra that made things a bit easier. Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.
