I have this odd habit of never finishing food or drinks...i make it but then i always leve a little to throw out even if i still want it....i dunno why, i've just always done that. Then, today at lunch, A told me if he see's me do it again he's going to spank he for wasting....it was never a problem before. I know it's not a great habit but is it really deserving of that? I guess it would depend on the reason that you are doing it. Personally as one who runs the household budget, it would drive me a bit nuts to see the food and drink wasted. Queen of Innocence "Well behaved woman rarely make history"

Coming from a different angle here, I could understand why you're doing this if it was some kind of superstition...ie, leaving a bit for the elves or something. But you admitted yourself that you leave a bit to throw away "even if I still want it." You seem to have no other reason for doing it other than that you always have. Instead of asking if it's fair that he spank you, maybe ask why it's such a big deal that you continue this "not great" habit? I'm not sure what kind of spanking relationship you're in, but habits aside, maybe you should discuss this with him. Please let us know how things turn out! Good luck! I think "A" was being completely fair, and it sounds like for a good reason too; by telling you ahead of time that you will be punished the next time you knowingly waste food or drink, he is showing you that he cares for not only you, but for others. One of the things that led us into this whole wide wonderful world of DD was my own immature behavior, some just like that. His favorite saying back then was; "if you are going to act like a child then you will be treated like one!"

Little Miss, Jake does the same thing to me, or rather did and now I rarely waste food or soda. I hate to say it was a good thing, but I guess it is because I don't waste as much and as Buen said, there are so many hungry in this world. It's a shame what I was doing. The Princess of Spanking™

The only problem is portions are so big. I can understand sometimes not being able to finish them. |

Simple solution Rose. Just don't take or order more then what you are going to eat. I don't have a big appetite either, so I am inclined to order a salad and an appetizer instead of a main course. At home I only scoop on my plate that I know I can eat. Queen of Innocence "Well behaved woman rarely make history"

Discipline is for ones own good as well as those attached to him or her. Have you expressed to 'A' how you feel about this threat ? Sounds to me like that behaviour bothers him and he is communicating this to you in terms that you can understand. Now it's up to you...If you are a clean-plater there will not be a problem }...ON the other hand... Good spankings are SUPPOSED to hurt !

Try making the left-over portions select pieces you save for the express purpose to hand feed to your man so he can "help you" clean your plate? I dunno - it's not a problem here. I've got dogs that will devour anything leftover in a heartbeat (except maybe raw broccoli). Before you open the soda, ask him if he'd like half - over ice? Negotiate. That's what I keep hearing here Some day you'll spank me... er thank me for this!

From someone who lived in a battle zone where food is usually scarce, I tend to have a huge problem with people wasting food. There were times where if we didn't eat spoiled food, we didn't have anything to eat. So to see someone waste perfectly good food is in my estimation a reason to have them corrected. |

Definitely a reason for a spanking. Food is expensive these days, and it doesn't need to be wasted. If you're going to eat less either order less or put less on your plate and the food that doesn't get eaten can be made for leftovers the next day. Frugality is very important in our house. Leah |

The key would seem to be 'I leave a little bit even if I still want it'. Carryover's from childhood- at one time in my youth I recall hearing to leave a spoonful on the plate to show I was not an animal- are often not remembered in adulthood as to source, but only as an action. In any event, eating more than you actually want makes little sense. Work these things out with care and good sense. |

I almost always leave food on my plate. I was taught several rules about this subject and it has stuck with me through the years. It was mainly a polite gesture but there were also tips for when sharing meals with others such as finishing up at about the same time as your fellow diners and leaving some so your host or hostess didn't worry that the servings were insufficient. These are habits learned from early years and I can't ignore them anymore than the others who are offended by left food can ignore their feelings. We all have our opinions on this but you and yours are the most important ones. If that is your picture you don't seem to have a weight issue so leaving some food doesn't seem to be having a negative impact on you. I'm sorry I can't say the same for all of us. We (Americans) live in a society in which obesity is becoming a serious health issue so cleaning one's plate isn't the best rule for everyone. I guess a reasonable question would be, does your act of leaving a little mean you are causing some hardship? Could the food or drink you leave have been consumed by someone else in the family and by having it on your plate or in your glass have you taken food/drink away from that person who wanted it? Or if by leaving a little every time, you have wasted family resources, then it is a problem. If by eating or drinking all you have causes you to feel overly full, then you need to be more cautious about how much you serve yourself. When you're in a disciplinary relationship, you should always have the ability to discuss how and when discipline should be carried out. If you really don't agree with what your spanker is disciplining you for, you need to discuss the matter fully until you both come to some kind of understanding. In the end, it's your relationship and you need to decide what you're both comfortable with. |

Well I know at our house there are only two of us so there is always food left over because I don't eat very much. And I think that's okay because I would have to eat like two huge plates to eat an equal share of the entire amount that a boxed convenience meal (Hamburger helper, mac & cheese) puts out. To me it is not worth it to put on the extra weight. As long as this isn't an eating disorder issue then I don't see it as that much of a problem. I very, very rarely can finish my whole plate either, I just have a small appetite. And cans of pop are very heavy on the tummy so I rarely finish those either. Maybe instead of throwing away the extra food you could put it in a container in the fridge and someone can eat it later. That's what we do. |

With my 2 boys and I we cook up meals that are made to last more than one day.We serve ourselves what we can eat and the rest goes in the icebox. And it gets served at the next meal.At night I don,t usually get hungry so simply don,t eat.My boys on the other hand eat 2 or 3 plates at every meal.Food is never wasted at my house. We live in a very poor country and people knock onyour door every day asking for food.It would shock any of us to see somebody throwing food away. |
