I know the DEN is made up of all kinds of spanker's and spankees, some do it only for fun, but some of us live by it. (i want to hear what everyone thinks) but i really need advice from people who have rules they are expected to go by.
We have a few set rules that we both agreed on at the start of our top/bottom relationship.They were put there to help me be a better person as well as to develop more self discipline (which i totally lack at times  ) but now i think a couple of the rules are just to strict, and he refuses to refine them, saying they are perfectly fine as they are. I think this is so unfair, but he will not listen to reason.
I want to push the issue, but I'm really kinda afraid to, because when he says the subject is closed we have discussed it enough, he means it.  That frustrates the fire out of me, but when he says the subject is over its over.
(and in our relationship) as my top he has the final say. So before i reach the "THAT'S IT" point where i am in major trouble i want to see what y'all think. Any opinions would be appreciated.

We do have rules. Some we agree upon and some we don't. I have a very strong husband who has from the day he told me we were exclusive told me just what he expected of me. I don't really know how to answer you since what he thinks is fair might seem harsh to an outsider. Or it could seem harsh to you and seem normal to somene else. Does that make sense? Have you tried talking calmly to him? Sometimes I find in ourhouse if I wait until a time when there is nto an issue being "reviewed" to discuss things with him it is better for both of us.
Our main "rules" are to watch my mouth. I have a bad habit of gettign angry and calling people names - thast an auto 20 licks. Shut up is an auto 10 - hubby hates that phrase and the big F you gets me an auto 50 (so does any form of flying the bird).
I have a bedtime that he can and will enforce. he put me to bed at 1 last night. But it changes due to our crazy schedule. Tonight we will be out late and I'll be lucky to be in bed for 5am!
Whining, talking back and rolling eyes are also on the no-no list.
I don't agree with some of our rules - I hate a bed time - but I know he has established them for my benefit. I have learned to control my temper a lot better since being held accountable for it.... |

I'm not in this kind of relationship, but you did say you want to hear what every one thinks...
I agree with Bratattitude that you need to discuss this with him when there isn't an issue already on the table and when you are able to remain calm. Obviously if you end up pushing the issue, with a temper, then even if you get your point across it will likely be seen as secondary to the WAY in which it comes across.
But I think it is important for you to feel that he hears and understands why you want to adjust the rules, why you find it overly strict and for you to hear his reasons for not wanting to do this. But I would be concerned that if he continues to ignore the fact that you feel it is unfair, then that will only build over time into resentment which will eventually damage your relationship.
It's one thing to agree to something that you don't like but can see is good for you and another thing to feel you are being treated unfairly.
Life is short. Eat dessert first.

I have tried talking calmly to him, we talk about it for a while but he won't budge on inch.
It is so frustrating!! I know im lucky that he cares enough to give me rules, but geezzzz some slack would be nice. Im also lucky that i only have 3 rules (so far) to follow, if he ever added no back talk or eye rolling id be in SO MUCH trouble.  I sure wish rules were bendable!

One question I have is how long have you had these rules in place? If its been awhile maybe he just doesn't see that your different and the rules need to be adjusted accordingly. I agree with Blushingbride in that I would be concerned if he continues to ignore how you feel. The trust you have in him now to do what is right and what you have agreed on will suffer (if not dissappear) if he can't acknowledge how you feel and come to some sort of compromise. Losing the trust and that along with the resentment you'll end up feeling is not going to be good for your realtionship.
Although you never said what the rules were. Not knowing what you want to change makes it a little harder to answer. Hopefully some of the answers you have gotten on here will help you. Good luck.

Be warned this is not the sort of spanking we have and this advise, or actually devil's advocate type questions is worth what you paid for it
Are the rules actually designed to force you to improve in a certain direction? Or is there another agenda (possibly more on his side than on yours)?
Some spankos have rules which appear to be designed to provide "a reason" for spanking and thus are purposely near-impossible to meet just so spankings can happen with some regularity. This is not a negative comment BTW - I understand that is a valid dynamic that is working for those people that have this sort of thing.
But I wonder if you think the rules are for your improvement to help you be a better person, and HE likes them as they are because they are so strict he gets to spank you more often or maybe harder or differently... In this case I can see my he might resist changing them..
Is there other spanking of similar intensity in your relationship? Would he miss out on something he is getting now if the rules were relaxed? Maybe this is what you need to look at.
Other ideas:
You don't say but I infere you are not perfectly mastering the rules you have. Is his reluctance to change them stemming from concern those things the rules are designed to change would actually worsen? Here you would need to convince him this is not going to happen...
Possibly your rules put you in a catch 22 situation - the fact you are unhappy with the rules and wish to change them is some sort of proof that the rules are still needed... I am thinking if your rules are designed to build discipline and your wish to make them less strict is interpreted as a lack of discipline then why would he change them?? Catch 22! Here you would need to prove that logic wrong - that the wish to change is not link to the need for the rule to remain

and i really think the reason i put this here is i was hoping all the girls would take my side  he could read it, and i could say "see they all agree with me, a few freebies when rules are broken are a great thing".

Okay I'll confess I would love a few freebies. There are some days I just can't get a hold on my mouth and it would be great to have a "get out of spanking free card". Although I don't think the card would stop him.

I too wonder what the rules are that you want relaxed, but, most of the time it seems a few freebies would be necessary no matter the rule. After all, no one's perfect ALL the time.

I can say with all honesty that I have NEVER wished for a freebie.
I made my comment about "most of us" because there may be some people here who don't LOVE spankings...I was trying not to speak for every single person!!
I don't try "to get out" of being spanked...mine are consenual and there isn't any reason for me to try and get out of one.
No...mine aren't all erotic...in fact I have less erotic spankings then any other kind. But that doesn't mean that I would try and get out of it or not want my husband to spank me. |

I'll be honest with you, my first reaction was to be really concerned for you if he was seriously ignoring your requests for re-examination of the rules. Being in a consensual discipline relationship means both of you have to decide on the rules and agree to what the punishable offences are. If your partner seriously no longer allows you to examine the rules and make changes as you need, then it's no longer consensual and that's a problem.
But since you stated that you posted here to get the girls on your side so you could show this to him, I guess you weren't completely serious after all. Which is a relief!
Anyway since the posts have become more playful. I'm moving it to a more appropriate place for it. |

I would like to get out of the me doing the dishes rule and also the rule of having to do my (college) homework before I do anything else. Very unfair. Well, the dishes thing is more of a compromise. He does all the cooking and I do the dishes...but still...why do they have to be done right then? And sometimes you need to be in a more relaxed mood before you can do homework! |

Your husband had no problem keeping up with me little girl.Remember you were in Guatemala.In the states if you,re caught speeding you,re in terrible trouble.There are no legal consequences in Guate.2nd.I had no children in my car.When I do I,m very cautious indeed.Remember the idea of not speeding is to get up early enough to get your kids to school on time and not suffer any problems with the school system. |

BV, we all need rules (including the tops). Some of us just like the regular encouragement
As for the speeding, BV, you may be a professional, but even the professionals have accidents on occasion. The point is to not jeapordize anyone else... even if you are alone in the car, you could hit another car, or be hit by another car. At high velocities, injuries are worse....
Prissi, I think you should have peed on both of their cars... teach 'em better!

Actually Badgirl I do have rules.And in every country I,ve driven in they,re different.Depends on the quality of drivers you meet in each one.Not only qualities but idiosycrasies.Out of the 21 countries I,ve lived in Guatemala and Portugal stand out as the absolute worst drivers.In these countries you have to drive defensively.A good driver knows what,s going on around him.A pro knows what,s going on for a mile around him.In the case that Prissie mentions we never went more than 50 nmiles an hour but compared to the other drivers we were going faster.That doesn,t mean I was speeding.Prissies migatory problems would work better when she,s driving her kids to school not when she,s a passenger in another country. |

Badgirl, I don't think Superwoman (being the only one I can think of that can keep four women in separate corners from leaving) is into spanking although I have seen cartoons suggesting the opposite.
Anyway, to the best of my knowledge she does not or has never worked with BV to accomplish his evil ways with women. And if perchance she is, than I would imagine that would make her a top and therefore would not be keeping women in corners but spanking them herself.

OK...I've been sick and off here for awhile but I got catching up to do!
Rules are not for me...ever. I will do as I please and if there are consenquences then I'll gladly take them...but you BETTER have a damn good reason!
I am a good driver. (oh crap, I sound like Rainman) I don't drive fast cos the traffic is very heavy here. My hubby on the other hand drives like a maniac!! He tailgates, drives fast, and has a tendency toward road rage.
He should be cool and calm...like me.
