I just watched a game show...I won't say the name....
The question was this:
What percentage of americans say they have been spanked as an adult??
If you saw this please don't ruin it for the others just let them guess.
I'll give you a hint: I thought it was rather low.... |

I just read online yesterday that spanking is the most popular fetish. I know they must have asked alot of closet spakee's in order to get such a low number. If the question had been answered honestly, it would have been a lot higher number. When my husband and I heard the question we just chuckled and gave each other a grin..... |

It's like I've always said...any dominant person who denies that they have never had a fantasy about spanking a bare bottom is a liar.
Lately I've noticed more references to spanking in the media. More television shows are talking about it and you see more articles in magazines.
I think it's getting more open now. But I'm personally not ready for the general public to know about me.

I'm not sure I'm ready to write off that stat as too low...
If 13% admit to having RECIEVED a spanking, then another 13% have GIVEN those spankings. Which would mean that 26% have participated in an adult spanking.
That sounds about right to me...

Ack! I couldn't get Tammy's paddle ready last weekend. I was feeling kinda blah and couldn't get my woodburning pen to work right so I decided to wait. I woke up the next day with a terrible sore throat which put off the project. I'm not sick, but I'm not perfectly healthy either.
Anyway, I don't think I can handle the fumes from doing a woodburning project just yet. Darn! I wanted to get that paddle done and in the mail. I know Nexus needs it in the worst way...or is it Tammy that needs it in the worst way? |

I think that the 13% may be a bit high.
Look around your community (number of people) then multiply that by your city, and state.
Now ask yourself how many people use this board...other boards?...
We don't know who did the interview survey, or where...
I think some may have been swatted on the rump at a party...etc. I don't think that most people who they interviewed actually pursue the lifestyle at all. (just thought the interviewer was hot and that they could impress her/him)
Bottom line...TOO HIGH!

I would like to know who did the survey...and how they phrased the questions...and what setting they were in when interviewing ?.
Most adults have been given a playful birthday spanking by their mate, is my guess as to the 13%

I agree, 13% is way too low, and I believe that many people are afraid of accepting their spanking desires, even those who wish only to entertain them in erotic fantasies.
Perhaps they feel like they are "bad" for feeling turned on by even the idea of spanking someone or being spanked by someone, whether they fantasize about D/d, D/s, erotic spanking, or some combination.
A spanking is "supposed" to be something that an adult girl should NEVER want to be given to her, even in the context of the fantasy of being spanked by a passionate, powerful, attractive man taking you over his knee for one (to which you consent, tacitly or otherwise).
Where these "rules" come from I don't know, but it's truly unfortunate that so many feel the need to suppress that which seems to be such a natural relationship dynamic for those of us lucky enough to have found this forum.

Nobody who was asked that question would respond that they HAD been spanked as an adult if they hadn't been, right? What incentive would they have to give an embarrassing answer unnecessarily? Zero.
However, it would be reasonable to assume many people who have been spanked as an adult would hesitate, at the very least, to admit it in a survey. I'm not sure I'd be truthful---depends upon the circumstances of the asking. If it's somebody calling on the phone or standing in front of me with a clipboard, I'd be wary, at the minimum. That's obvious. Even if a paper survey with no identifying data was used, I think I'd be a little nervous. Who will see this? Is there any way someone could trace this to me?
In other words, this survey proves one thing and one thing only: that 13% of the polling sample ADMIT to having been spanked as an adult. So one can reasonably assume the actual total number of adult spankees is far greater than 13%. I'm surprised as many as 13% admit it!!! |

Well, 13% does sound a little low. I wonder what the percentage would be if it was a world wide survey.
