I just read this post over at A Creatively Spanked Wife: http://creativespankedwife.blogspot.com/2005/06/overboard.html One of the items in the post was how she mentioned spanking to her vanilla friends. That made me think about how other people react when you very casually or jokingly mention spanking in a conversation. For example, over the weekend, I was in my store (a laundromat) when a mother and daughter came in. Mom and I were casually talking about laundry and daughter was kind of acting bratty about it. I mentioned to mom that she needs to finish up here, take the clothes home and have daughter do the folding. Daughter started protesting, and I said something jokingly like, "Never mind, young lady, look at all this work your mom is doing for you." She protested more, with mom agreeing with me, so I pushed ahead with "Don't sass your mom, or she will give you a spanking!" Daughter acted all put off, the way teenagers do, but mom lit right up! "That's what she needs! A good old fashioned spanking!" I thought this was interesting, so I added, "Yes, right over the knee!" Mom laughed, daughter was indignant, and I was getting hard. I turned back to work and thought about how interesting an exchange that was. Was mom a spanko? I don't think so, but the way she lit up... Hmmmmm... So, what have your conversational experiences been? Alas, he was the Highwayman The one who comes and goes And only the Highway Woman Keeps up with the likes of those...

It’s always interesting when you start testing the waters around new people or even friends whom you assume are vanilla. The experiences I’ve had is that for the most part everyone is open to talk about it as long as it stays on a joking platform, like your experience in the laundry with the mother “yes, that’s what she needs…” but as soon as the topic is pressed, I’ve found that people’s reactions changes drastically. Everyone will joke and talk about it, but faced with the reality of being spanked it becomes a horrible taboo. Nothing says I love you like a spanking

I tend to stay completely away from the subject. Especially in New England, I find you have to be careful on what you say, people are pretty conservative. As a person who likes to touch and hug, I get aggrevated on how our society is become so phobic about being physically close. When I volunteered in my son's kindergarten class, we were taking a photo of the kids in their Halloween costumes, and the kids were sitting too far apart on the floor. I simply went over and picked a few of them up to move them in closer. I carried my kids around all the time. The teacher gasped and said "you can't touch the kids!" "Queen of Innocence" "oooooo", she says!!

It is weird. In my drama class my senior year there was a boy there that once smacked my ass right in class (I was so surprised not only that he did it, but that no one saw (or heard) him do it) Well he and I started talking on an IM and one day I was talking to him about something I did at school to get ISS (in school suspension) and he goes 'shame on you' of course I couldn't help but be a brat about it and asked 'oh what will you do about it?' and he replies 'spank you'. OMG what a feeling that was, esp since I had a crush on him too. At school kids would always talk about being spanked at home, I would always kinda listen off to the side, always surprised they actually talked about it and wishing I could talk about it with them. and Fanny, I can't believe the teacher said that! The kids at the daycare I worked with you couldn't get them away from you. I'd always have a few boys and girls that would come and and hug your leg...and even some parents would hug some of the other kids that their kids new. |

In the soutern states I guess it is more acceptable. Up here, teachers, coaches, scout leaders etc are instructed not to touch any child for any reason. As a little league game this weekend I saw one of the coaches give an "attaboy" pat on the bottom to one of the boys who got a run. It was the coach's own son, so no-one said anything, but had it not been, I can assure you someone would have had something to say about it. "Queen of Innocence" "oooooo", she says!!

As a little league game it is more acceptable here [mississippi] almost a ritual, the men will clasp right hands and bump left shoulders if they are close /casual aquaintances.. in my area and circle of friends it is a biggy bear hug, teachers hug kids here,i have a friend who is a headstart teacher,, she usually has one or two on her lap ..three year olds this year... hugs have a proveable theraputic value,,, it makes the day better and improves your outlook on life, and makes you realize that someone cares for and about you.... how valuable are the hugs before and after the redbutt attitude ajustment? |

As far as reactions go, I believe it has a lot to do with someone’s culture. For example, I have one coworker who's vanilla, but she's a southern girl like me and she is always teasing that her hubby is going to "spank her fanny" or that she’s “not going to be able to sit down for a week” or something to that effect, for shopping. She hides shoes that she buys on her lunch break in her office. We tease each other and share stories. |

And you'd think out in Cali, the land of "do what ever you want, or makes you feel good" there would be more people open to it. But not so much. It has shown up more in tv and film lately, but the real life occurrence is still a taboo. At least with in my circle. Maybe I'm just hanging out with the wrong people Nothing says I love you like a spanking
