My question is... I know lots of the members out there have fibromyalgia and I'm wondering how you cope when it flares up and you want a spanking so bad you can't see straight? I tried it and two swats in I'm sayin..."OK! That's enough!" Sure puts a damper on things. Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Shylah, I too have FMS. Have had for at least 15 years. Q & I have experiemented with spanking and its after effects (endorphines) to try to take the edge off the symptoms. Most of the time it works (especially if it's hormone shifts making it flare up), but occasionally I just can't take the intensity of a spanking that will trigger enough endorphines to help and I will just 'crawl into myself' during the spanking. Q is very good at reading my body language and he can tell very quickly when the spanking is not working because of my FMS. It's frustrating to both of us when it doesn't. But we just save the spanking for a better day. One thing I have noticed: When I don't get the release or the relief that I need from a spanking (too short, not intense enough, whether I actually 'want' the spanking or not), then often my FMS symptoms actually seem to get worse for a few days. Haven't actually put this one to a good scientific test tho (and I really don't want to coz I cherish the release I get from a sound spanking). I have made a mental note to watch it if it happens again. I guess, what I hate the most about FMS, especially as it is slowly continuing to get worse, is not being able to make any plans. You never know if you are going to have a good day or a bad day. Just curious, what kind of meds are you on? Some of those may actually be 'getting in the way' or making you more sensitive. |

They have tried different types of meds on me. I have so many alergies to meds it's not easy. The latest was Co-codomol which made me break out in hives. My biggest problem is my Dr. He doesn't believe in FMS. And I can't change to a different one. That's NHS for ya I can't take the anti depressants either. They make me JITTERY! I just have to wait till a day when it's not bad and the hubby probably won't be in the mood. Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Maybe it would help if you ladies explained a bit more about the condition. I think we may get some suggestions if members really understood the pain involved with this disorder. Queen of Innocence "Well behaved woman rarely make history"

This is the best way to describe it... FMS (fibromyalgia syndrome) is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles, ligaments, and tendons – the soft fibrous tissues in the body. Most patients with FMS say that they ache all over. Their muscles may feel like they have been pulled or overworked. Sometimes the muscles twitch and at other times they burn. More women than men are afflicted with FMS, and it shows up in people of all ages. To help your family and friends relate to your condition, have them think back to the last time they had a bad flu. Every muscle in their body shouted out in pain. In addition, they felt devoid of energy as though someone had unplugged their power supply. While the severity of symptoms fluctuate from person to person, FMS may resemble a post-viral state. The pain of FMS has no boundaries. People describe the pain as deep muscular aching, throbbing, shooting, and stabbing. Intense burning may also be present. Quite often, the pain and stiffness are worse in the morning and you may hurt more in muscle groups that are used repetitively. The fatigue has been described as "brain fatigue" in which patients feel totally drained of energy. Many patients depict this situation by saying that they feel as though their arms and legs are tied to concrete blocks, and they have difficulty concentrating, e.g., brain fog. Most FMS patients have an associated sleep disorder called the alpha-EEG anomaly. This condition was uncovered in a sleep lab with the aid of a machine which recorded the brain waves of patients during sleep. Researchers found that most FMS patients could fall asleep without much trouble, but their deep level (or stage 4) sleep was constantly interrupted by bursts of awake-like brain activity. Patients appeared to spend the night with one foot in sleep and the other one out of it. Constipation, diarrhea, frequent abdominal pain, abdominal gas, and nausea represent symptoms frequently found in roughly 40 to 70% of FMS patients. Acid reflux or gastroesophogeal reflux disease (GRED) also occurs with the same high frequency. Recurrent migraine or tension-type headaches are seen in about 70% of FMS patients and can pose a major problem in coping for this patient group. Premenstrual syndrome and painful periods, chest pain, morning stiffness, cognitive or memory impairment, numbness and tingling sensations, muscle twitching, irritable bladder, the feeling of swollen extremities, skin sensitivities, dry eyes and mouth, dizziness, and impaired coordination can occur. Patients are often sensitive to odors, loud noises, bright lights, and sometimes even the medications that they are prescribed. Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

At times I have just a few of the symptoms and then there are days I have almost all of them...the one thing to remember is that with fibro, you are in pain 24/7. It NEVER goes away and there is no cure. I've learned to live with it. It just sometimes causes any spanking fun to be put on the back burner and sometimes that has to be for weeks at a time. BUMMER Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

I know this may sound silly, but is there anything natural that you could take, something that wouldn't make you sick but that might lessen the severity of the symptoms?? What I mean is...have you looked it up or is there something I can get you in the states that you can't get in the UK?? (Message edited by tammynx on September 15, 2006) |

Tammy, I am fortunate that I don't suffer from this disorder, but I know a few people who do. They have told me they have yet to find anything that is of any help. Queen of Innocence "Well behaved woman rarely make history"

There are times I want to scream with it. Yesterday was a good day, I did lots of walking and it was ok. Today, tho, was not a good day but I forced myself to walk and get the things done I wanted to do. Sometimes you just have to force yourself. The worst part is getting up in the mornings. I sit on the side of the bed for a couple of minutes to get my legs and knees to support me. I got swatted last night but had to stop it cos the nerves were jumpin. And sex is out of the question as well when it's acting up. GAWD I'm fustrated! Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Sissy9....I don't think Shylah needs spanking videos, a professional spanker, or her hubby to decide on the right time to spank her. Fibromyalgia syndrome is a serious medical condition - one that apparently has no cure - and can be quite painful to those who suffer from it. "Do I have to be good ALL the time?"

I had a friend who suffered with FM - she always felt best when she cut sugar & starch out of her diet, and when she walked. Medicare actually footed the bill for her to get a hot tub for her FM treatment. Here is a website with 100 different suggestions from a woman who has FM. She has some good ideas: http://www.fms-help.com/tips.htm Some day you'll spank me... er thank me for this!

Thank you everyone for your kind responses. Hey, I've lived with this for a long time now and I am coping as best as my feeble brain will let me. I am the type of person that HATES to take meds so I only take anything when it gets really bad. Sorry Sissy9 but...what the hell are you talking about???????? Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Hi Shylah, I read that the natural supplement Sam-e was offering very promising results in the UK in clinical studies for those suffering with Fibro. Wishing you the best! Rex "It seemed like a good idea at the time."

Thanks everyone! I've been neglected for awhile because of flareups. I've been told of another natural herb called peruvian macca. I'm planning on trying that and will check on that other one as well. You guys are great and I appreciate each of you. Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.
