I've been reading spanking blogs and other spanking stuff for a few weeks now, and as you can see i happened across this forum. So i figured i could put away my comoflouge and night vision goggles and finally delurk to ask a question about spankos(btw the part about the camo and goggles was just a joke). I dont necessarily consider myself a spanko becuase i have never been spanked, and it only seems fair that there should be some sort of initiation before i can have the honor of calling myself a spanko. Although i have no idea what that initiation would be (insert nervous laughter). But i dont consider myself a vanilla either, in fact if im any flavor it is mint chocolate chip. During all my lurking i found that one thing that seems to stay true for most spankos is that they have known they had some interest in spanking for as long as they could remember. So my question is this, do you think that its something genetic? Like there is a spanko gene that you inherit and some people have it and others dont? I personally cant think of any specific event that has caused my interest in spanking, it seems like it has just always been there so that makes me think its genetic. I wonder if those scientists that did the Human Genome Project found it, but they probably werent looking for it because it doesnt serve any medical purpose to know, it would really only satisfy my own selfish curiousity. But i have also found that this spanking fetish is quite popular, i am always finding some sort of reference to spanking in magazines like cosmo or playboy, and also in some movies (and not just pornos). So that has made me think that maybe its a gene everyone has, kinda like we all have a nose but our noses are all different. Maybe all people have the potential to be spankos, but their environment causes them to be one way or the other. Of course, i have also considered option C, which is that i am just a big geek that looks into stuff way too much, and over analyzes everything.And i probably am a geek, i will admit that i wear glasses and still enjoy building and launching model rockets(but who doesnt like rockets?). i just assumed that most people are curious about what makes them who they are.So if i havent bored you to death and you were actually able to make it to this last sentence despite my irratic thinking pattern, please tell me what you think about all this. |

I don't think your a geek!!
My husband has always told me that he believes that spanking (giving or receiving) is something that you are born with. Your love/hate relationship with spanking is just something that is "just in" some people and not others.
For me I have to say that I believe him...
Spanking is just somthing I have always had an intrest in as long as I can remember.
I like many others always felt alone with how I felt. I coudn't believe that there were otheres out there like me. Imiagine my surprise when I discovered the internet!! |

Although I dont think its genetic in the sense that neither of my parents showed signs of being into spanking, I have always been fascinating by it. I would look at pictures in nursery rhymes even before I could read, and always loved the cartoons that included spanking the most.
Ive always been this way...and I'm just glad that I finally came out and met others like me.

Before I discovered the internet I used to watch TV shows like I Love Lucy, Bonanza, other shows that would have the occassional spanking. Then I would get the Harliquin books that had spanking in them (lots of that!).
Then one day I was finally on the internet. Just out of curiousity I put spanking in the search and my world was never the same. I was amazed at how much there was out there! I met my hubby in a spanking chat room.
In the genes? Naw, I don't think so. It's just something that is in us. Something we need in our lives and have decided to live that life.
And no you are not a geek.

Welcome Joss!If you,re a geek then I like geeks(not sure what a geek is).I remember in the old Tim Holt moviesCowboy movies in the 40,s he always spanked the heroine and I remember how much I was enthralled by it.I spent my youth looking for opportunities to swat any girl on the ass that I thought I could get away with it with.Personally I think it,s in everybodies genes but is usually repressed.And then there,s us.Halleluyah for internet and coming out of the closet cause there,s so many others like us.Big welcome young lady and hope you get spanked real soon. |

Odd person out here. I did not discover my interest in spanking until my late teens. I'm not sure anything is in "everybody's" genes and is repressed or suppressed.
My likes and dislikes have changed in many directions during the course of my life time. I am not the same person I was at any particular age.

For sure my likes and dislikes have changed.
I don't think spanking is in the genes either....but I do think people are either hard wired that way or they aren't. |

I was really apprehensive about posting because i wasnt sure if anyone would respond, or even take me seriously. But you've all been very nice and made me feel welcome. So thank you for that, you spankos are a friendly bunch.
Back on topic. I realize that not everyone has always had an interest in spanking but it still seems like the majority have had an interest since they were very young. And i just dont get how you can develop such a specific fetish so early in life. Spanking asses is very specific too. I can understand that there might be some sort of natural attraction to butts, but why spank them? Why not decorate them with icing, like a cake.... well i guess that would be too messy (although it sounds kinda fun). Maybe the spanking part is just the most popular butt related activity.But i still think it would be cool if there really was a spanko gene. And I'm still not convinced there isnt. |

I did some research on all this, well i just googled some stuff, other people did the research and i read their results. I found alot of crap that doesnt seem to explain anything, at least not for me personally. One article blames the spanking fetish on childhood trauma, and another blames it on a hormone deficiency, then another said that tall women tend to be spankos. I am 5'5'', which i dont consider tall, just average. Another said it was a way to be dominant to deal with insecurities, kinda like a bully, which is ridiculous. I read a response page to one of the articles and it seemed like none of the spankos that responded agreed with any of the results. Maybe you have to be a spanko to actually understand it. One thing that all the articles had in common was that they were actually able to make spanking boring. I previously enjoyed reading about spanking, but wow did those articles suck(to put it bluntly). I guess i'll probably never know why i have this interest, which annoys me just a little, but i can get over it. And i doubt i will ever even be spanked, i am way too shy to ask/tell a guy to spank me. I cant even order for myself at a restaurant, i always make my sisters order for me.Hmm....maybe my sisters can find me a boyfriend and then they can tell him to spank me... haha, or maybe not. I just set myself up for a joke, it would be funny if someone was here to say ..."Whoa Joss, Find you a boyfriend? They arent miracle workers!"....zing....does it count if you zing yourself? haha,anyhow i guess it is back to lurking for me |

I'm 5'0 super short, but a spanko till the end. What did you find, can I ask about hormoone deficiencies and spanking?
It could be that it is different for everyone, I mean, I know some people here have converted vanilla partners or been converted by spanko partners, others have been enthralled since day 1. To a degree, one can stop and ask "Oh! Why am I like this, but in the end, it's how you are no matter the reason.
and Joss love, you're probably not interested, but it doesn't always have to be a boy, now does it?

I read a few more articles(which was torture) and it turns out the hormone deficiency causes women to be taller, so those two things go together. It explained how, but i only skimmed that part. But i didnt quite get how the hormone deficiency/tallness even tied into the spanking part. I really think it was just a coincidence and maybe the researchers only interviewed tall women that were into spanking and no short women.It didnt even say anything about men. I guess this spanking interest is just one of the big mysteries in life. Like what happened to amelia earhart? is there really a god? does the loch ness monster exist? and of course the biggest mystery is why no one has complimented the title of my thread.....Just Kidding. although i did think it was hilarious and very witty. |

Nice to meet you Joss and welcome to the den. I am not sure about the Gene.. but... when I was young, I had a very loving, strict , disciplinarian father. Later, as an adult, I read a spanking story in playboy, got HOT, and told hubby. He was happy to reinact the article now, yrs later, I am in a DD lifestyle, having read about it in the den and loving every minute of it... oh btw. I am tall, 5ft 8!

looks like the score is three for short spankos and two for tall spankos...but i still think you can be a spanko at any size, there has to be something else to it...maybe when i finish college i will start some real research, who wants to donate their bodies to science in about 4 years? haha |
