The thread about top's opinions is simply great and I wish more of them reply and let us know what's soo intriguing about spanking for them... on the other hand, me as a bottom, I'd love to hear what is it for us bottoms in getting a spanking... still, it hurts, so why on earth we like it???? 
Well, as I started the thread I'm probably expected to give the first point of view... hmmm... what a trouble I've got myself into 
It's really very difficult to say, there are soooo many aspects of it and maybe I don't even realize all of them?? For sure, I guess  . So easy to say it's a turn on. But why? For a start let's say that the sensation is sooo strong that it makes me forget everything and I like it... stop thinking for a while... maybe just about when he's gonna stop . In fact, I don't think about when he's gonna stop, I really think about nothing at all. I like to feel I have no control over things that I simply have to withstand it all, no runaways. In fact, we don't have a stop word even though he always understands in what I say or in my reactions when he's over the border and stops himself. I have strong feelings of "justice must be done" and I never let him stop even though it hurts as hell and he knows that he can rely on this in me. If I just say>please, this is too much, he knows it's too much. I might be reluctant to bend over again, I can pleade, I can scream> no, please, but as long as I don't say stop, it's unfair, he knows he's not over the border. As for punishment spankings, it's the great thing of reconciliation with my own feelings of guilt and mainly it's the new motivation and energy and drive it gives me. Life suddenly gets some vision again in front of me. Erotic spankings are also really very strong stress reliever for me, makes me soft and understanding too. |

I think you gave all the answers to your own guestion! The only other thing I will add is that the location of the spanking is so very close to the erotic zones. The sensations can not help but stimuate the entire area.
Giving up control and having someone take complete care of me is very erotic.

I have actually wondered this question for a long time Volcano. I think I more so wondered before I found like-minded folks on the internet. I always thought I must somehow be odd, sick or perverted. I had NO idea there was a whole bunch of people with the same wants and desires. Now my theory is just that some of us are wired for it and some are not. With this knowledge, I think it is all those things you and Fanny mentioned above, whereas many years ago I thought I was just odd in wanting a spanking. Great question Volcano!

The enjoyment or desire to spank and be spanked is no more different than some one who likes to jog, or hike, or knit, or ride roller coasters, or have sex in the missionary position with someone they know. It’s as normal as breathing. We all have like and dislikes, that’s what makes us who we are, what ultimately makes us human. It’s a shame that so many people send years feeling like they're sick, weird, perverted, and isolated. It’s sad. And believe me, I was part of that group too. I think in one sense the answer to these questions can be found by asking why do you like spicy foods? Why do you like to swim in the ocean? Why do you take the stairs when you can take the elevator? Because it’s who you are. It’s who each one of us is. Because it’s a completely normal activity that adults engage in. The more accepting we are of your own likes and desires the less taboo it will become to everyone. Remember, the world was flat, until someone sailed around it. The atom was the smallest thing in existence, until it was opened up. And spanking is a taboo, until we stop being embarrassed by and hiding who we are.
But that’s just me, and I’ve been known to be wrong. Once or twice.

Well Rocco, there must be something different about spanking than knitting or jogging because so many of us hide it. I really do love your philosophy on all of this, about accepting ourselves and being more open about it. I'm just not quite there yet. Partly because I am shy (it took me a week to gather enough courage to register on this site) and partly because of my environment maybe. It sounds like in big cities you can actually explore this a bit more openly. I am in a VERY rural area. I must drive 2 hours for a mall or a Target for heaven's sake! I have done extensive internet searches for such parties...but either they are REALLY hidden or this area is just wayyyyyyyyy to conservative.

}i too live in an area that is rather conservative....its pretty much redneck bars and strip clubs that are just redneck bars with women taking their clothes off!
although i am sure there are people around here that do partake in the lifestyle....its just hard to find them!
the local personal ads doesn't even have a section for gay/lesbian ads...so imagine posting an ad looking for a spanking buddy!

Ohhhh yes, we have all the bars too....and redneck is probably an accurate description too! I am not even aware if we have a strip club though, I don't think we do. I am more than sure we have folks here that partake of every possible lifestyle, but it being such a small town you wouldn't want word to get around especially if you are a professional of any kind.

}I'm with you Vulcano. It took me quite some time to realize why i would want someone to spank me, then one day, at least a year or so into it, i figured it out...the release. It was the release of feelings, anger, sadness etc. I had read that sometimes women will cry b/c they were spanked so long/hard and it scared me but i also wanted to know how that felt at the same time, again, it was the breaking down of the built up feelings and the softness and drained feeling after that feels so good. I also love the pain of it, but can't handle too much (in my opinion). When i am being spanked, all i can do is think of the spanking; of how it feels, where it will land next, if i can handle any more, all of those type of questions, but not about my day, or how someone pissed me off, only about the spanking.
I have never received a punishment spanking nor and OTK (too bad), but the though is...mmmmmm. anyway, hope that answers the question.

I understand what you are saying and even the worlds you live in Kimbers and Wild1. I grew up in a VERY small town, and I'm talking the one school that was K-8 only had 100 students total kind of small. And by no means am I saying to have a spanking parade down Main St. It is hard, big city or small. This wasn't a call to action or an attempt to start a sexual revolution, I just think if we as spankos stop looking for deeper reasons or answers to why we like spanking, we can for ourselves shed the negative feelings a lot of us feel. I think we do it to ourselves, we project and idea of society not being accepting on to ourselves, the idea of being weird or sick is a self fulfilling prophecy. Perhaps we don't give society enough credit? I doubt it, but I also think people for the most part, and I'm talking in broad generalizations, honestly don't care what you or I do. It's not as though you have a meth lab in your garage (no offense to those who do) or that you sell underage porn. You like spanking. So. I think most people would if they opened themselves up to it. I just think it's said we (spankos) have to feel horrible or alone or less than normal for a basic like.

I also kagree with you Kelli. I know that's why I like to be spanked. It is a complete release of all the day's crap. When it's happening my attention is on the spanking, and when it's over I'm stress free. It's like the work day never happened and I can focus my attention on my GF. When they're needed, nothing works like a stress release spanking.

}where i live now is a totally different world than where I grew up...I was used to diversity and some degree of tolerance....I still have a bit of trouble conforming to what is considered the norm around here....but when I am up to it...a few hours driving or a short train ride and I am in one of two major cities....and I agree with you Rocco, it is sad that we have to feel horrible or alone maybe someday that won't be the case......
