Was in Toronto last week and they announced that the hockey team lost, and was "spanked...but in a bad way". Now I know what spanked in a good way means to me, but I was curious what spanked in a good way meant to your average Canadian. I always enjoy a spanking reference on TV but this one really stuck in my mind |

I am not sure exactly what your question is, but in sports terms being "spanked" is a term used to mean a team lost by quite a bit. I think the newscaster was just trying to make a joke by adding "but in a bad way." And are you limiting your question to just fellow Canadians and leaving everyone else out? I actually wrote the quote wrong, the announcer said "spanked, and not in a good way" which is what I think got my attention (and my mind going) Her inflection was also such that it sounded like she might enjoy a spanking "in the good way". I'm not Canadian, was just visiting and the TV hadn't been on but a few minutes and I heard the word "spanking" several times in the story. Made me think (and hope) the Canadians enjoy and are more open about their interest in adult spanking. |
