hi
does anyone out there have a view as to which of the following is best for punishment.
(1) X frame (also known as st andrew's cross)where the subject is restrained and presented vertically and
(2) the more conventional spanking bench where the suject is on all fours and presented horizontally and may or may not be restrained?
does it make any differemce if the subject is male or female, or if the punishment is disciplinary or erotic?
i have my own views but would be curious to know those of others.

I have always favored the conventional spanking/caning bench for one main reason and that is with the female on all fours and restrained she can easily be taken sexually once her punishment has been concluded |

We don't have either but I would prefer the bench, when we get into some bondage I'm face down on the bed with two pillows underneath me. or bent over with wrists cuffed to ankles, he also likes me on my knees head down and again wrists cuffed to ankles,

Either is good from the spanking point of view but I always feel more exposed on the X frame, even when I am facing the wall, despite the fact that the bench naturally parts my legs and so reveals more, so as a submissive the X frame does it more for me.

We use a bench, but I have ideas of an X frame with a pivot at the center of gravity. The pivot would be mounted to the wall, allowing the subject to be either upright or inverted. An inverted subject would be well-exposed for view and punishment. I imagine a stout waist strap, handholds and shoulder rests would prevent too much positional discomfort.
The cross and pivot would be removable, leaving only the attach point on the wall. Or the pivot would attach to a vertical board, the low end of which would rest on the floor, and have attach points a little less conspicuous, since they would bear no weight. The board could even be free-standing, with just one attachment at the ceiling. A screw eye or two. In fact, threaded metal inserts into a ceiling beam would allow only a couple of small holes in the plaster to show. Or the board could be tilted and slipped into the holes, then moved to a vertical position, where it would stay. A couple of sharp pins would engage the carpet, assuring positive location in position. The holes could be explained to the curious as attach points for a ceiling fan that is no longer used. The whole thing would be modular or collapsible for storage. |

my own view is as follows.
for men X frame is best as it exposes genitals, whereas bench does not.
for women bench is best as it exposes bum and pussy. on a longitudinal bench tits are flat under the body, but they are available if it is a narrow bench the woman bends over.
