Hi Folks, I don't know if this topic has not already been discussed. Since my wife lost her intense interest in being spanked, I have had to focus more on reading about spanking and enjoying the thoughts and memories of the past. This forum lets me participate vicariously as well. Now, does anyone have a favorite spanking oriented books? I can start: The Sensualist (aka Tender Buns) by Dedeaux written back n the late 1960s I believe. This is a great book about spanking mostly with the whip, crop or quirt but in a consensual and not in a ridiculous way as presented in some other books. The willingness/unwillingness to be ounishe3d makes the psychology interesting. |

There are two series of books I've read that are good "Kushiel's Dart"by Jaqueline Cary is the first book in a series of 6 and Anne Rice's "sleeping Beauty" is another (trust me this is not the children's story yet it is based on the same)Prince charming wakes her but that is the only similarity in the storyline. I've also read "The Story of O" but I'm not so keen on it.You might be . |

Thank you for the Kushiel reference, I have not read any of these books. The reviews on Amazon suggest that the first one, the "Dart" is the best. The Sleeping Beauty is good but I could not get too involved with the characters possibly due to the fantasy set-up. The Story of O, I thought of a great. It is of course also a fantasy but it has a psychological component. The one thing that I do not understand is the spanking (whipping in O's case) that Sir Stephen delivered after sex. We always did the spanking as part of foreplay and would have no interest after sex. Do you have any views on that. |

I think it is all about his total dominance over her. He takes pleasure in giving pain and is"marking" his power over her-her will is totally bent to his needs and he reafirms it by beating her after sex-women tend to be more tactile after sex so the pain level would be greater. At least this is my take on it. |

There is also a line in the book in which O recognizes her need to be whipped yet when introduced to Sir S she expresses a fear of the whip. Still she keeps coming back even though Sir S uses her without regard to her sexual needs. There is some interesting psychology here. I understand that the book was actually written by a woman. |

I think this book is one that I'll have to read again and again to get the psychology behind it. It kind of scares me in some ways. There would seem to be a deep seeded sense of something missing in O's life that she is trying to fill by submitting totally to Stephen. The fear of the whip that she refers to is like an added spice to the acceptance of his dominance over her. |

The book is totally fantasy as the punishments are extreme and best enjoyed vicariously. O recognizes being whipped as necessary, not as enjoyable, moreover, Stephen and Rene never care about her sexual satisfaction and O appears to live for their love. There are simpler books with neat twists, like The Sensualist available on Amazon.com. I just got Kushiel's Dart but have a number of other books that I have to read at this time. |
