The thread on nudity gave me a thought and I wonder just how many of us are embarressed by our bodies as we grow older. Personally, I hate my body now. Not that I ever had a great figure, I've always been on the plump side, it's just that now, I feel "frumpy" and unattractive. I wonder if my weight (I am a large person...not THAT large but not small) and my aging bits are the reason he seems put off on spanking...sex. Granted he is 16 years older than me but it seems like he is just not interested at all. I feel like it's because of me and my appearance. I keep my hair long cos he likes it that way, I keep the grey covered up, I shave all icky body hair away. I dress smart, I don't wear things that are tight and show the "lumps". Mostly cos I see other large women wearing tight things in public and I feel embarressed for them. I have sexy things I wear in privacy but he seem unaffected. Am I the only one that feels like my body is past it's "sell by date"? Young and old...male and female...I would like all opinions. Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Shylah, I truly believe that age is just a state of mind. I have gone in and out of "feeling old" stages, the first one when I was only 27. Society makes woman feel like if we are not 6' tall, super slim, with long legs and blonde hair that we are not desirable. The ironic thing is that I don't know anyone (including these woman) who feel attractive all of the time. Right now I am definately feeling past my "sell by date", but it is all part of what I am going through currently. I have no good answers (besides the stock ones) on how or when or if this is going to pass. I have a relative that is 74, vibrant, a bit chunky and as wonderful as can be. I think she looks great and is a treasure and her husband of 52 years seems to agree. She carries a confidence about herself as well as a youthful attitude. She is involved in many activities and has the energy of many woman 25 years younger. I think it would be a safe guess that she has gone through her "times" as well. Shylah, didnt you say you were in your 50's? If he's 16 years older than you than he may very well have a physical/emotional problem with sex. When you do make love, is it as good as always....or are there difficulties? Have there been problems in his daily life lately that could be causing him to pull away from you? Before you blame yourself, look at every angle of what COULD be wrong. I agree with Fanny, we're programmed to think our bodies are going to pot the older we get. Yet I know many older and heavier women who are sexy and vibrant...and their s/o's adore them. It's very easy to get into the habit of poor body image when your younger (why cant I look like those airbrushed pictures in the Victoria Secrets catalog?) and carry it with you as you get older. I have this problem, although its my weight more than my age that bothers me. Steve is still turned on by my body, thank goodness...It's my health he worries about more than how I look. I wish I could feel the same, but it's almost impossible to break the habits of so many years. If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you. Grow old with me, the best is yet to be.

I have to agree with both Fanny and Wolfie - not only is age a state of mind and merely a # but if you are 50 and he is 16 years older, it could easily be his sexual difficulties, and certianly nothing to do with you. We all feel fat sometimes, I know I do - but it's easy to feel that way when you see the airbrushed pics of pin-thin models. Trust me, I know - I have done some modeling ads when I lived in NY and they airbrush the hell out of the photos! I couldn't even believe with the makeup and the airbrushing it was me when I saw the photos, so just know that it's easy to feel down when you see photos in magazines like that, but the thing is, they don't look like that prior to all the touching done to the photos. Trust me! I know! I'm sorry, but not as sorry as I'm gonna be.

Thank you for telling us that Katie, I really appreciate your candor. I wish all the young girls that want to look like models knew and understood how unnatural/unreal those photos really are. Well, I don't like my body. But...to be honest, I never have. I should say that once upon a time I did quite a lot of dancing. When I see pictures of what I looked like then, I realize that I was attractive. I wish I had seen it then. Mind you, when I told my husband that I wished I had the body back that used to repulse me, he said that I'd be saying the same thing at 50 about the way I look now. I just turned 40, so this topic is near and dear to my heart. I'm a little overweight as well; I'm not huge, but I could lose 15-20, and I'd definitely look and feel better. I am self-conscious, and have to force myself to wear the sexy lingerie that my husband likes. I tell myself that if he can learn to spank for me, then I can do this for him. But nothing will stop my cringing if he happens to run his hand over my stomach. Three pregnancies ensured that the skin there will never be taut again, no matter what I weigh. In saner moments, I know I'm too hard on myself. Tons of people seeing me at my party and the pics afterwards told that I looked great, nowhere near 40, blah blah blah. But it's all in my head. |

Time for me to put my two cents into this discussion. I am overweight--very overweight. My ex says he didn't want to be married to me because of my size. (Yet he stayed for 20 years.) The truth is I am active and involved and healthy. (I am approaching 50 and have only minor health issues.) I have been overweight practically all of my life and often felt or even tried to be invisible. People treat you differently when you carry lots of extra pounds. So I realized early on that I would never be able to meet society's standards. I don't even try any more. I love being in my 40's because other peoples opinions matter far less than any other time in my life. I am more concerned with being active and healthy than "thin enough." My butt is firm and I am not embarrassed to have it be bare when I am spanked. I have had several guys tell me I have a very nice backside. I feel good about myself and even enjoy wearing sexy lingerie. Yes, I would love to lose weight and have even gone through surgery to have a lap band put in. I didn't lose very much. My weight has stabilized and I just accept it. HOWEVER, my weight doesn't determine who I am!!!!! My personality, my kindness, my soul, my love for life make me more who I am than my weight. I work very hard to make my insides beautiful and try my best to make my outsides look as attractive as possible. Some people are going to like me and some people aren't. If they can't accept me as I am, well then, that says much more about them than it does me. It must be a sad way to go through life judging people all the time. I am who I am and I am happy with me. What else truly matters? I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once.

I think all of us can look into a mirror and find fault with something - a bodypart we would like to change or alter in someway. I, too, am approaching 50 and as a personal trainer, I can attest to the fact that it is HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT YOURSELF that counts. If we have loving husbands and significant others that looking into our hearts and souls to see us for what we are, then isn't that most important? Fanny and Smartnnaughty are right - its about attitude, personality, your soul, and your happiness....so...smile Shylah - you are a beautiful woman My favorite color? pink of course "But honey...wait...I didn't mean it!!"

I decided to be fabulous at fifty. Since I have a few years to go, I figured I have plenty of time. Cardiac problems run very high in my family (both parents having bypass surgery) and when a doctor told me I had high blood pressure, I said, "who me?" and was in denial. He prescribed medication and told me that I would need to be on it, for the rest of my life. I didn't want to start taking a pill that I would become dependent upon. I asked if diet and exercise would make any difference and he told me no. BS, I thought. I sought out care from another doctor. She prescribed an alternative, lower dose med, that I took for a few months. My lifestyle changes happened about six months after that. My BP is now below the normal acceptable range, and my resting pulse rate decreased, on average 20 beats. I no longer have any concern for my blood pressure, and I'm getting stronger and more fit with every day. The good part of all of this is that I am, for the first time in my life, getting comfortable with my body. This is partly due to seeing others so very comfortable in the BDSM community, getting more mature myself and realizing I couldn't really give a sh** what others think, and I'm actually looking better too. I didn't change my diet, and begin an exercise program to get lose weight or get thin, but to feel better. It worked! I now have a happier outlook toward everything, and am ready, to share my life with someone now. I couldn't do that before, with the way I felt about myself. K |

I know all of you are right and none of you have said anything that I haven't already told myself. But still, the insecurity is there. He functions very well during sex. Even at 68 years of age, he is well endowed and performs great. It's just getting him started! I know I should lose some weight but I doubt that I will. Not that I don't have the willpower for a diet. I'm healthy, to a fault. I've had a bout with cancer, survived the chemo. I have fibromyalgia. I take the meds and have good days and bad days. Other than that, my heart is good, I have good blood pressure. I keep my low blood sugar regulated. I do light exercise when I can. I know I'm a good person. And I've been told I'm a lovely person. I wonder if my 30 years at the hand of the Son of Satan has anything to do with it. Probably. I'm not going to therapy for it tho. That's in the past and I want to leave it there. Scary ain't it? Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Shylah!!! I could just smack you!! I've known you for a long time and I've always thought you were beautiful!! Please don't think that your the reason for the sex being less in your life. He is older then you and probably doesn't even think about it..or how often you have sex...he is a man after all and they don't always think!! As for me...well I don't like my body either..I don't think I ever have thin or not. Now that I turned 40 I don't like my age either. My husband likes me the way I am and he always has. Sure I would change some things if I could....but who wouldn't?? I'm hoping that running after my very active one year old will help me feel younger. Hang in there Shylah!! |

My 2 cents. We all get older, and we can never be the person we were in our twenties, nor should we want to be. Staying in shape, however, has kept me feeling young and has contributed to a better self image. I look at Jack La Lanne as inspiration. The man is 90 years old and twice as fit as some people in their thirties. Is it good genes? Sure that helps. But he wakes up at 5am every day and spends two hours working out. He treats sugar like poison, and has no bad health habits. And when we start exercising and eating right, we may become an inspiration to our partners. But, of course, it's also important to remember that it is possible that our loved ones are individuals, and we may not be able to influence their behavior. At that point, you may need to get creative, but I won't say what that means. |

Shylah Dear, you are selling yourself so short. You are a beautiful woman. We woman are so hard on ourselves and I refuse to buy into the idea that we need to live our lives always depriving ourselves and working out at every moment we can. Yes, you can get creative, but I still think that a bit of self pampering can go a long way. Queen of Innocence "Well behaved woman rarely make history"

Here are some of my thoughts. I'd love to be lighter - about 30 lbs or so. But that is not realistically going to happen. I'm not too bad the way I am now and Shylah is right dressing appropriate for your age and weight does wonders for your image and your sense of self. One thing that I believe is very true women that age and don't carry much weight in my opinion look older. They have more hard plains and angles to their face and they seem to show their wrinkles more. Women that are fluffier, like me, have a tendency to look more pleasing, warmer and actually younger in the face. I look at my sister-in-law who is my height and weights probably a good 50 lbs less than me, but I actually look much better than she does. So although all women, I think tend to want to weigh less. If I weighed what I did in my early 30's my guess is I'd look much older than I do now. I have also found it amazing that women as they get older just seem older, but men as the get older look distinguished. Somehow that is simply no fair. Shylah 16 years age difference as we get older is quite a bit. I think the most plausable explanation is that sex as men get older is just not as important to them as it was when they are younger. They don't need it as much, but it is always nice to just be together and hold and snuggle no matter if the outcome is sex or not. The Spice of Life is having my OWN WAY!! A spanking would be nice.

The one thing I noticed about life is that no one is happy about everything they have. To be honest I am one of those women who don't gain weight. I am on the thin side but have been thin my whole life so to expect to gain weight now at he age of 51 would not be real. I beleive the same is true if you were heavy your whole life. I think more important than what the scale reads I aim for what my body tells me do I feel good than I am good. Numbers on a scale are just that numbers don't make them rule your life do what you have to be fit no matter your weight. Now if only I had straight hair- see no one is happy |

As a young woman, I can't say that I know what it feels like to worry about being overweight. Because I have been really thin for as long as I can remember.. a little heavy around 6th grade, but lost that all as soon as I hit puberty. So really was only heavy for a few months. Right now, I have gained a few pounds, but would not concider myself overweight. I worked in a casino for almost a year, and saw alot of older women, and I admire the way they try soo hard to take care of themself and look and feel good. Even if you aren't as thin as you'd like, what matters most is your attitude toward life. "I'm so tired of being here... supressed by all my childish fears" Evanescence ~ My Immortal

I don't mean to brag but when I was 28 with two sons 10 and 7, my husband and I just got into motorcycles. Riding my bike all day was my job, ( it's a dirty job but somebody has to do it!). One day I took my boys and young nephew into the local coffee shop where I was well known. The people there thought I was bringing my little brothers in for ice-cream cones and were shocked to find out they were my sons. They all thought I was 18. I'm 52 now upgraded to a 750 Yamaha (from a 400 Honda last year, still riding!), and I could still pass for 35 ok maybe 37 but a good 37. I take each year as it comes as far as age. The way I look at it, I still feel 18 but I can't compete with the 18 year olds anymore, so I have to compete with the girls my age and just be the best I can be at my age. It helps you get through growing older and my body for my age is, well, I still get hit on by 30 year olds at the river when I'm swimming, and I still love the look of shock on their faces when I tell them I have sons older then they are. Anyways I guess I love my body and I keep it the best I can, hanging on to the youth just as long as I can. Cause one day I'll be fighting a losing battle (aging)so I'm makin' the best of it while I can. |

Ok I am kinda different on this one. I have always loved my body for what it is. I have had so many people tell me I'm beautiful that I just always believed it! Yeah I had a few people make fun of me (who didn't), but after a day of people telling me how I looked I went home and looked in the mirror. All I saw was a beautiful girl. I've always been happy with my weight too. I've only been told I was too fat once and I knew the only reason someone would say something like that would be because they were unhappy about themselves. I used to be a model too and I have also seen how much make up and airbrushing and digital correcting take place. I actually went back to my high school a couple years ago and talked to the freshman there. I talked about modeling and how important it is to love your body and not harm it. I also talked to them about healthy ways to loose weight. Age is a state of mind. I'm just a little angel...sometimes!

You are so right, Hunny. If you feel 18 you'll always be l8. I remember once when my grandmother was 70 something, she said she still felt like an 18 year old. I didn't know how she could feel only 18 when she was obviously old (I was 7, 8 or 9), she's my gramma of course she's old. But now I know what she meant. You're always who you are no matter what your age. Some things never change. But as far as your body aging, we haven't got that one beat yet (no pun intended!). So make the best of what you've got while you've got it, cause it's all you have. And what's inside is the MOST important, more than how you look on the outside. |

I think everyone has issues with their body on some level. Katie_spades is right, the thing is to feel good about yourself. Although you make cosmetic alterations to try to make yourself more appealing to your partner, maybe more of your real beauty shines through when you really can embrace your own natural beauty. As far as your partner goes, how ironic it would be if he was losing interest in sex because he feels like he is not attractive to you. Having some grey hairs of his own, maybe he feels self conscious around a younger woman. |

I thought I would chip in here as this is a subject that is dear to my heart. I am a big woman. I am 5'8" and almost double the weight I should be for my height. BUT since last June when I discovered a spanking site and realised others shared my fantisy of spanking I've become a new person. I have two regular spanking partners No 1 lives a long way from me so we don't get to met as often as we'd like and No 2 lives very close to me. These two men have become very dear to me and have helped me to learn to love myself. For the first time in my life I am comfortable with my body. AND lo and behold the wieght is begining to come off, I have lost 2 stone in the last 6 months. No I am not dieting or exercising, apart from sometimes walking to work instead of catching the bus. I am just happier about myself, I'm begining to wear 'girlie' clothes ie skirts/dresses and stockings/suspenders instead of constantly wearing trousers/jeans. This was initially to please my Doms but it has gained me confidence and I am now doing it to please me. Friends and collegues are commenting on how good and happy I look (if only they knew). I am almost 51 years old and feel younger than I have for years. I'm growing old disgracefully and I love it. |

Shylah, I am so sorry that you were feeling so down in the dumps. I read this post from the beginingg to the end and finally saw your picture for the first time. Why would you think that you aren't pretty. Your face is beautiful, your skin has the appearance of a much younger women. Please don't feel that you are not worthy of having a relationship that you enjoy. When I was a young child I had a nun (went to catholic school my whole life) who was tall like me and she noticed that I was always hanging my head or dropping my shoulders in an affect to appear smaller. By the time I was in 3th grade I was all ready 5'6" about a foot taller than most of the other children. So one day she sat me down and had a long talk with me and the outcome is if you think you are different than anyone else than they would treat you different but if you think you are the same and therefore desever the same things that they get than you will be treated the same but the choice is up to you and you alone. I think you are beautiful and have a good heart so if I was you I would think I desever the same that anyone else is getting and go for it. Be well my friend nad ask your S/O for a HRS Human replacement spanking- Bill gives me those whenever I feel bad about my appearance. Did I tell you I hate my curly hair. I could never live in the UK all the dampest would make my hair one big fizz mess. Love can't always be seen or hear but will always be felt with your heart

Kennysspankee, I have learned over the years that combing my hair is a waste of time I actually just use a wide tooth comb when wet only abd put some jell in it and off I go. My hair is down to my ass so when I say I have a lot of hair I really do. I have learned over the years to really enjoy the ease of having curly hair. My curls are soft and full. W thinks that a womens beauty starts with her hair so he has this one rule that if he isn't with me he perfers that I tie it up or wear it braided. Now that he works with me I do wear my hair down more sometimes in a half pony tail but usually for work I keep it braided and sort of in a bun thingy on my head. I wrote a story that I posted on the storyboard that is true. He would flip out if I ever cut it again, so that's not an options. If the truth was to be said I guess I have come to terms with my hair. As I said we all have things about our body that we don't like or wish were different. But as W said my red curly hair is so me that if I had straight hair I would be so interesting. Gotta love a man who thinks your bad stuff is great. Love can't always be seen or hear but will always be felt with your heart

I've always said You are your hair. I feel the same way about mine. My hair's just past my shoulders with some layering, a side part and side bangs. I get a perm once a year for the nice curls have for over 20 years. I don't think I could stand it as long as you keep yours. Too much work. Straight hair is more of a pain in the ass to me. |

My hair is to my waist. If I don't blow dry it, it gets a bit wavy and frizzy. I'll use a straightener sometimes if we are going someplace special. Most of the time, I just twist it and use a clip to keep it up and out of my way. I keep my hair colored, otherwise I would have a head full of very white hair with a pink scalp showing thru...YUCK. I also condition the heck out of it. It needs a trim but I am in mourning so I can't get a cut till the end of October. I don't think I would know myself if it was cut short. I've had long hair for as long as I can remember. Oh yeah...weighted myself this morning. I'm down 10 pounds. Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Yeah Shylah, you look great in your picture with the length your hair is at. They used to say when you get older you have to go to short hair. What a crock! I look way younger with my hair shoulder length, I had it short for a few years when I was around 30 and everyone said I looked older...BLAHH!! So I let 'er grow and have kept it relatively the same for over 30 years (I don't like change!). I've never colored it, but probably will some day. I've always liked the golden blonde color it is and I wouldn't feel like 'me' if it was another color, although I've always wanted to try reddish blonde! |
