Tell me about ginger. Is it very painful? how long is it kept in?

Ginger is fun! I gave the link in that other thread for figging.com which might answer some of your questions.
I've found the sensation depends on how fresh the piece of ginger you have is. If it's fresh, it can be pretty intense and last abour half an hour. The older it is, the less intense and shorter lasting.
It starts out feeling a little cold, but then it heats up rather quickly and then you've got a serious burning sensation going on. Also, the heat sort of spreads out and around...if you know what I mean.
It's intense which is what some of us enjoy. It can also add to the power play games that I enjoy. I give him control and just hang on for the ride. Wheee!
It's not something I'd do everytime, but when we want to up the sensation play level a bit, it's a great way to do it. Having a ginger plug in during a spanking can be truly intense!

There are benefits of powdered ginger as well. All you need to do is make a paste of the powder with a bit of water. Bill and I have used ginger many times in fact the website that Bethie suggest tell you how to keep it "fresh" in the veggie drawer. One thing I noticed is afterwards even with the ginger removed my butt and clit is very responsive and if we are having one of those sex every chance we can weeks and use ginger two times in a row, I can have great climaxes. ooooh...i have tried ginger once...i have mixed feelings! it was very intense and unexpected, and i went into a strange headspace and don't remember that much about it, but he told me that i came very very fast (ie in a couple of minutes which is totally unheard of!) and that afterwards i was very fragile and said something along the lines of 'evil evil ginger...only when i'm really bad!' maybe it was super fresh and juicy? :P

Hmmm. You know, I've thought about it before (but we've never tried it), and this conversation got me thinking about it again.

Ironically, I was discussing ginger with a friend of mine a few nights ago. I work part-time at a grocery store and I swear I have the WORST time keeping straight face whenever someone comes through my line with ginger root!!!!!

I feel a little cheated here, folks. I read this post and then spoke last night with Liz about trying out some ginger. She said she has used it several times - and then suggested that I look at the cutoff roots in the veggie bins. She also said that the pleasure was intense, but in "a very personal way." Ginger - it does add spice! The powdered works well for me, added to olive oil makes a fine spicy warm lubricant. You can also by ginger essential oil at the health food store. Just remember that it's concentrated and needs to be diluted, not used as is out of the bottle. Warming things up is good, scalding them is not.

Buena, thanks for bringing that up. The root should not be lubricated, but of course the powder needs liquid to make it into a paste. Otherwise it wouldn't be called paste! We use plain water and it works as well as anything more expensive.

It is not a pain as much as a hot sensation. I happen to like it, so I may not be a good one to rate it. The sensation to me is very invigorating, but we more commonly use the ginger paste. I would recommend you try it first on the clit area so if you absolutley hate it, you can jump in the bath and soak it off.
We double our pleasure as my husband loves the taste of ginger. Read between the lines on that one!

I read somwwhere that if you buy one and leave it it in a cool dry place for a several days prior to use, it loses some of it's freshness and therefore some of it's potency. So the question is, how many days? Does it lose more potency after a week? Thanks for the information! |

A ginger root cluster is like any other spice. Exposure to air, light and time causes it to loose its spiciness. You would need to take into account how long it has been in the store, and that is next to impossible.
That said, you need to score a root with a knive before using to break through to the juices. My suggestion would then be to either not score it or use minimal scoring for the first try. You can always add more if you'd like.
